Lightweights Joe Stevenson and George Sotiropoulos are currently in negotiations to collide at UFC 110 from the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia, on Feb. 21, 2010.Bout agreements have been distributed to both fighters; however, nothing is official at this time. The good news is that MMAmania.com has learned that Sotiropoulos is eager to sign on the dotted line as soon as possible so he can compete in front of his hometown crowd for the first time ever as a UFC fighter. And he'll likely have to do it against his stiffest competition to date.Stevenson has picked up momentum after losing three of four bouts in a 13-month span, most recently defeating Nate Diaz and Spencer Fisher in back-to-back bouts. The victory over Diaz -- who was making a run at a potential title shot -- was perhaps the most impressive and important of his young, yet distinguished, mixed martial arts career.

I'm almost sad to see this fight.

It seems like a step too far, too soon for Sotiropoulos maybe.

I would have preferred to see George against the like of Spencer Fisher.

A little quick for George and they could be sacrificing the development of a real bright prospect. Not saying he can't win, but with the way Spencer has been fighting since he teamed up with Greg Jackson I wouldn't count on it.

This is kind of mean as he goes from like Billy Miles, to Roman Mitchyan to George Roop to Jason Dent to Joe Daddy? Thats too big of a step!!

Well, if he can pull out a win, he's in the mix at 155 for sure...

This fight is kind of a no-win for Joe 'Daddy'

They must want him to co-headline the event, thats really the only way I can see this making any sense. Even with that being the reason I still don't really like the match up. There are a bunch of other good names for him to fight a 155. I think Sotiropoulos is a very good fighter, should have a place in the ufc for a while, but at this point Stevenson should not have any serious problems with him. I'd like to see him fight someone in his home country, where there is a stronger possibility for a great fight. Not someone who should beat him soundly.

The Joe daddy a couple fights ago I would say George can beat beat, But Daddy seems to of finally evolved a little and he will probally put George away. Sad because I was hoping for George to have a good showing in front of his home crowd.

You never know though! I will still root for George!!

Doubtful this bout will be a co-headliner when bigger fights rumoured so far are:

Big Nog/Velasquez
Wanderlei/Bisping - (confirmed)
CroCop/Rothwell

It's weird, I was actually thinking about this the other day and now they are rumored to be matched up for the card. I think this is a huge step for George but he has pretty underrated skills. He might not have as good of wrestling as Joe Daddy but I think on the feet and ground it's fairly close. Joe Daddy should win a fight like this as George has never fought anyone on Stevenson's level, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Sotiropoulos come away the W.
