The expected Mark Coleman-Randy Couture fight scheduled for UFC 109 is now half-official. It was confirmed today that Coleman has signed his bout agreement for the contest according to Coleman's sponsor. Couture has verbally agreed to the fight already but no word on if he's signed the paperwork yet.

I really don't understand the point of this matchup. I don't see how it benefits Couture at all. If Coleman wins I can understand it benefiting him, but I don't see how Couture has anything to gain from this fight.
Maybe they just want to fight someone there own age for once.
This IMO will be a very boring fight and it sucks to say that because im a big Randy fan. Not to mention ladies and gentleman this is the new main event for 109.
I think it could be an exciting fight, just like Griffin vs Bonnar, you got two guys with similar style that can't knock out a pinata, they might actually throwdown, I think Coleman has looked better and could get what amounts to a big win for him, Randy is going to be determined to prove that he's still relevant.
Couture is a far better boxer than Coleman is. I think Couture might be able to keep it standing as I highly doubt Coleman will be able to take Couture down.
I don't understand the hate here. Is this fight about 10 years too late? Sure. But let's not pretend that either of these guys is going to put together a serious run at this stage in their respective careers. Randy squeeked by in the Vera decision and it's not like Coleman wrecked Bonnar to the point where he deserved a promotional push.
I'm excited for this fight in a number of different ways: First and foremost, anytime they want to trot Randy out there I'm going to pay attention. His Sylvia fight is what got me into this sport. Both of these guys are truely physically impressive for their age and should be applauded for their dedication to their craft. There's a revenge story line here as Coleman actually beat Randy in a wrestling match back in the day (1989 if I'm not mistaken).
If this fight does in fact become the main event for 109, then there is a bit of a reason to complain. But the complaint shouldn't be about this fight itself, but rather the lack of a true main event. I get the fact that this may not be the most appealing fight to watch. But Coleman's game is going to be the same regardless of who is across the cage from him. Same goes for Randy. Just bacause either of them could have had different opponents doesn't mean their fights would have been more inharently exciting. Just look at each of their last bouts for that proff. Sure the fight is about a decade too late, but both fighters are at a very similar stage in their career and I don't see any reason why we shouldn't be excite to see this fight.

I have, like i said...this fight would be interesting 5/6 years ago, even. Right now, both of these fighters are on the outside looking into the LHW title, they both shouldnt even be mentioned in the same sentence.
Is this really a main event you want to see? This is not going to be a good fight, i'm sorry.
What is everyone's problem. It's two hall of famers for god's sake. I'd say that maikes it a pretty interesting fight. Sure Randy has nothing to gain from this but it's two experienced wrestlers who know the game and have been doing it I'm more excited for this fight than I was for Couture vs Vera.
Couture will obviously have the game plan once again and be the more technical/ quick fighter, but Coleman is a big strong guy and he could take Couture down if anyone in that division can. He could also crack him good and Randy has been dropped a couple times recently. But I'd only give that a slight chance.
I say Randy pulls another win off and hopefully gets a bigger name like Franklin or the loser of Shogun vs Machida
Great fight for the nostalgistic fan, it should be a good battle between to on the pioneers of our sport. But lets be honest, this is going to be a boring fight. Both fighters have looked very sluggish and slow in their last few fights, I just see this playing out as a poor boxing match till Coleman goes down, or Randy takes the decision.
