At this point, Cain Velasquez might be the only healthy fighter on the UFC’s heavyweight roster.Velasquez, 27, has seen the division’s landscape alter drastically since his dominating TKO win over Ben Rothwell at UFC 104.The American Kickboxing Academy fighter’s peers – Brock Lesnar, Shane Carwin, and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira – have all been shelved due to injuries or illness, the last of which robbed him of a possible contender slot when Nogueira got a staph infection and withdrew from their meeting at UFC 108.

Against anyone but Lesnar I would pick Velasquez. And Carwin I guess, but as long as Lesnar is champ, or Carwin if he gets it I can't see Cain holding the title.

Due to the loss of Gonzaga for the Dos Santos fight they should try and match Dos Santos with Velasquez. I think its an interesting match up considering the domination of team blackhouse lately.

I wish it was Dos Santos and and not Gonzaga. I'd love to see Gonzaga vs Carwin. Gabe would be probably the closest fight I could see Velasquez in right now in the UFC.

Thinking there was a typo, Gonzaga lost to Carwin. Think you mean Cain Vs Gonzaga.

well since everyone else is injured and that Jan 2nd event needs something and both Dos Santos and Velasquez were scheduled they should fight, seems simple enough, makes sense to me

Good call plus we would get to see Dos Santos on the ground. This would be a good matchup!
