With his vicious knockout of Michael Bisping at UFC 100, Dan Henderson fulfilled the terms of his previous contract, and a new one doesn't seem likely.

After butting heads with UFC president Dana White, who said Henderson's contract demands were "unrealistic," the veteran fighter could sign with a rival organization, most notably Strikeforce.

"The [expletive] that Dan came in and said in my office and what he wants, it's unrealistic, and he knows it," White said. "And it's basically based off of, 'I heard this guy is making this, and I heard this guy made (this much).' Basically, what everybody gets pissed off about is Tito. 'Oh, I heard Tito is making all this money, and Tito is this and that.' And it's because Tito likes to go out there and stay stuff like that or somebody in his camp did.

Lol well they paid tito 250 to show, so Danny probably wanted that much and rightfully so, he deserves 250 a fight.

The way I understood it is that Tito (or the guys in his camp) embellished a little bit and said he was getting a lot more than what he's actually getting. I'll read it again to see if I misunderstood.

tito can get a contract that's more financially lucrative than hendo not because he's a better fighter, but because he's a bigger draw

I read somewhere that Henderson wanted 7 figures per fight like Randy.

Hendo deserves at least 250K to fight and 250K to win, he's a huge name in the states and has fought tough competition throughout his career.

I disagree.

He's not a huge draw and the UFC is a business not a charity. If he sold more PPVs then maybe, but no way does he deserve twice what Tito makes.

My understanding of the sticking point in the negotiations was Hendo wanting a $1,000,000+ signing bonus.

As much as its a valid argument I still hate to see someone like Tito potentially being paid more to fight than Dan Henderson. If this is a sport then it's just completely wrong. That's like paying AC Green Michael Jordan money and paying Michael Jordan AC Green money. Sadly, this is still entertainment more than sport apparently. Thanks to the idiotic casual fan, no doubt.

It's a pay per view business model, unlike any other sport besides boxing.

It shouldn't be compared to other sports that are on free or cable TV.

I completely agree, but my point remains the same. Idiotic casual fan = pays more for entertainment value than for quality of competition value. Tito Ortiz is a perfect example. The guy hasn't been knocking off top competition like Dan Henderson has, and yet more fans would pay to see him fight most likely.

Tito gets $250,000 a fight with no bonuses. Hendo deserves a decent payday on every apearance but nobody deserves $500,000 per fight unless they are HUGE draws like Randy and Brock.
Anywhere in the reigon of 200k per fight is fair for top fighters IMO.
