...according to TUF 8 coach Frank Mir.
"I don't even know what's going on, I had to turn it off. I'm being serious. It was bad. Some of the fights were horrible. I haven't seen any fights in the WEC that could ever amount to being that bad, because the lighter guys are just more competitive. They're in shape, they're more strategic. Even when you go to a college wrestling match, typically, the heavyweights are boring to watch.... I'm a heavyweight and I'm saying... (the fights are) nowhere near as exciting as the lightweights."

Frank says a lot of stupid stuff but I have to agree with him concerning this season's TUF fights. I don't see one heavyweight that has much stamina and I have had to fast forward through a few of these fights. Overall pretty boring season in the ring.

I've always said the HW division is the least competitive in MMA, wow I can actually agree w/ Frank Mir on something.

I wouldn't call them boring, but I would say that most of them are similar to fights that go down at the local shithole promotion. Very little skill or cardio.

That's what I've been saying all season. I bet none of these guys makes it in the UFC. I'd be surprised if Dana even brings any of them in.

You might find a better fight at your local promotion.

The story and quote came from a interview done by mmaweekly. I don't trust mmaweekly at all I think they are cutting out key parts of the interview to get what they want out of it. They (mmaweekly) aren't really known for good journalism.
I think what Frank was saying is he thinks almost all HW match's are boring compared to the LWs.

The thing I dislike about this season is that it seems like a flashback to 1997. All the fighters seem to be almost too one dimensional. They're either great strikers or ground specialist. We are in 2009. I would think their would be more well rounded guys to chose from,But at any rate, TUF will probably make all these guys better fighters when it's all said and done.

Agree with Frank Mir.
That's why they build up the Kimbo thing so dang much. They need something!

I'm a huge fan of TUF but I can honestly say that this season is BY FAR the worst in terms of fights. I almost wish someone would pull of some Junie Browning-type antics just so I'll at least be entertained. The only saving grace is the back-and-forth pissing contest between Rampage and Rashad and even *that* is getting old because there's no end in sight since Rampage's fighting career is on hold.

yeah, the fact that rampage is MIA right now does kind of throw things off but I don't think about that when i'm watching.
