While Jose Aldo's 145-pound title win made waves in the WEC's featherweight division, the ripple effect has spread to the bantamweight class, as well.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has learned from sources close to the WEC that former featherweight contender and Aldo's Nova Uniao teammate, Wagnney Fabiano (12-2 MMA, 2-1 WEC), will make the drop to 135 pounds for his next fight.

A date for Fabiano's bantamweight debut has not been set.

It was Aldo, at just 23 years old, who was originally considering a move to the 135-pound division to make way for Fabiano's run at the title. But with Aldo's current 6-0 run in the WEC, including an impressive win over former champ Mike Brown at this past Wednesday's WEC 44 event, it's now Fabiano who will seek the Nova Uniao team's second title belt.

Enough with the teammate-dodging please. It's business.

I do agree with you that teammate dodging is getting very old very fast but I don't think Wagney staying to fight Aldo would change a thing to who holds the belt. Aldo's gonna be on top for a loooooong time

I don't have a problem with the divide and conquer approach...it's when they remain in the same weightclass and expect not to fight that it becomes a problem in my eyes.

Well even if Aldo and Fabiano werent teammates, I still think Fabiano should move down in fear of Aldo, I know I would.

I dont think people understand how deep the team mates fighting thing is. Its not just about not wanting to punch your friend in the face, it could ruin the whole dynamic at the gym. I mean, what do you do? put everybodies name in a hat and let the fighters draw who they're gona be training with for the next 3 months?

well I hope Fabiano takes the 135 lb title then :) or Torres gets it back, either way
also I hope this site eventually adds the 145 and 135 weight classes to the rankings

Probably a good move for Fabiano because he has not impressed me at all with his first few fights in the WEC. Too bad he won't be able to get through Torres or Bowles.

Excatly its business and that gym dosn't want to lose a fighter or even two fighters they also would like to hold two major belts.
