Though Josh Koscheck and Dana White have reportedly butted heads in the past, it's clear that Kos is back on DW's good side. For his second-round submission of Anthony Johnson at UFC 106 last night, Koscheck picked up both the $70,000 Submission of the Night bonus, and a $70,000 Fight of the Night bonus (which Johnson also received). As Dana White explained, "I have to publicly say that [Koscheck] always steps up, always wants to fight, fights the best in the world, and I’m blown away with his performance tonight." Still, is that enough justification to reward the chaotic mess that Koscheck vs. Johnson turned out to be?

Come on, that FOTN bonus must have been given to placate a precarious situation with all the eye poking or something. I would even call the SOTN award a little flaky. I though Groves triangle was more impressive given that he was getting pwnt before hand. As much as I didn't care for the fight myself, I thought Tito-Forrest was a more appropriate choice for FOTN.

The bonuses seem more and more like Dana's way of rewarding those he feels deserves it most by loyalty to the UFC, or to show how much they mean to the UFC. The submission, KO and fight of the night tags seem to be just that....tags.

It has kind of cheapened the awards imo. Almost like Cecil Peoples is picking the winners these days.

Personally I would have given the awards to:

KO Saunders
Sub Grove
FOTN Sadollah v Baroni

Sadollah/Baroni was kinda a one sided beatdown

That's what I thought. In no way did it deserve FOTN.

I thought the FOTN would have surely gone to Baroni and Sadollah. Wow.

KO=Saunders
Sub=Grove
FOTN=Ortiz & Griffin

No fight truly stood out for the FOTN bonus IMO.

Sick KO by saunders though.

Okay, im a huge Forrest Fan so I think he deserves an extra 60 000, but watch that Koscheck fight and skip the stoppages, it was a sick fight, both came out bangin and it finished with a sub. it was an awesome fight.

I thought Sotiropolous (sp?) entire sub set-up/sub was the most deserving of the SOTN - honestly the transitions of subs amazed me

The fact that Kos got two bonuses is ridiculous. FOTN, maybe but no where near SOTN.

the way I would have awarded it...

KOTN- Saunders/Nog - have em split it 35k a piece...
SOTN- Sotiropolous or even grove
FOTN- I guess Johnson/Kos, but Thiago/Volkmann could have got it

I totaly agree that Sotiropoulous should have gotten the SOTN, the setup to the Arm Crush and using it as a pre-cursor to the eventual Arm bar was pretty slick.

Saunders not getting KOTN is a complete sham, he jacked up Davis with them knees big times.

Griffin/Ortiz or Thiago/Volkman should have both been ahead of the Kos/AJ fight for FOTN

I often find myself wondering why these awards are given to the fighters that they are. I like the idea of these awards to show appreciation to the fighters for good performances, but when they don't go to the deserving fighters it seems pointless.

I think Nog deserved the KO of the night.

If by Nog, you actually mean Ben Saunders, I agree.

wow, that conference was awkward. That was like watching an episode of The Office without any jokes. I literally started cringing around the 10th time that Tito said "I thought I won!"
