A bout between middleweight contenders Nate Marquardt (29-8-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC) and Chael Sonnen (24-10-1 MMA, 3-3 UFC) originally believed to be part of the UFC 110 card in Australia instead takes place in Las Vegas at UFC 109.
MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) learned of the booking from sources close to the fight, though it's unclear if bout agreements have been finalized.
UFC 109 takes place Feb. 6 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and airs on pay-per-view.
MMAjunkie.com passed along a report earlier this month from sportsnet.com, which first reported the possibility of the fight. However, at the time, the fight was believed to be targeted for UFC 110, which takes place later in the month.
Instead, it'll be part of the UFC's Super Bowl weekend card.
I love the fact that ufc is making 109. A hell of a card when ufc 108 not only doesn't get a title belt on the line but no true main event as well And now no co main event Thank you ufc
and it seems to me Chael lived his life like a candle in the wind.... seriously though nate by however he wants sonnen puts up a great pace though so this should be an entertaining fight

Nate sure as hell won't win however he wants. Sonnen doesn't get the credit his fantastic wrestling deserves. Nate will not win by takedown and ground control decision. Nate by sub.
Great fight, I will deffinately be picking Sonnen, the way he worked Okami was very impressive. Nate wont be able to get a take down and more then likely will be spending the majority of th ematch on his back. Sonen UD

Wow how time changes things. In 2 fights Sonnen went froma guy who couldnt win a fight in the UFC to a guy going to "outwrestle and control" Nate Marquardt.......................I dont buy it. I never really bought into the Okami bandwagon, and he barly eeekd out the win over Miller I say Nate has this one any way he wants to and it will most likely be a KO!
