I predict Koscheck to actually use his wrestling to tire out anthony johnson for two rounds. In the third round koscheck will exchange his wrestling for his boxing and take advantage of a tired and exposed anthony johnson for a 3rd round KO.

I agree, but would actually go as far as to say Kos will finish via Ground 'n Pound late in Round 2.

It all depends on how the weight cut affects Anthony.

Rumble.

I know Koscheck is the smart pick and I want to pick him 100%, I had him winning by UD. But something tells me that he is going to get cocky and try to prove something. If he does that, he won't be leaving the first.

Not to mention Rumble will have a pretty big size advantage on fight night like he does with everybody, which will get him out of trouble against the cage, if he ever gets there. Rumble has good takedown defense already, with his size factored in and him swinging for the fences, I don't see Koscheck getting to work the cage.

Johnson can definitely win but Kos is also a HUGE step up in competition so I wouldn't go so far as to say Rumble has "good" takedown defense.

This is true, I wouldn't say that Rumble's takedown defense is the best, but it is good and he has the size and strength to back it up.

Thing about Rumble is he always rocks his opponents pretty early. Now that I think about it Koscheck might want to try wrestling once he feels Rumble's power early. But keep in mind that this is the first round, Rumble isn't gassed at all, he is aware of what Koscheck will want to do in this fight also.

Closer fight than most people think, but I can't get past Rumble's power and speed in this one. He always comes out quick and pushes the pace, which probably isn't the best thing for Koscheck's gameplan. Is Koscheck is going to get the takedown he will want to control the fight and have Rumble play into his game, which I don't see happening.

How much do you think Rumble will weigh on fight night? 210? 220?

i agree but he does come from a wrestling background and he's going to have a size and strength advantage over Koscheck. i think he'll be able to put those 3 things together and defend Koscheck's takedown attempts. hell who knows, Koscheck has been standing with everyone lately maybe he'll keep it that way, granted that's not the best idea against Johnson.

I would say that a Junior College National Champion has at the very least "good" takedown defense...and will test Kosheck's ability to keep him on the mat if it does indeed end up there.

How do you think a junior college football team would do against a division 1 football team?

I know that's a bit of a stretch, but I think it was Lesnar that said at one point that guys go to Junior College to wrestle because they can't get into a D1 program. The talent dropoff I'm sure is quite drastic.

I could be totally wrong on this but my gut (and heart) tells me I'm not.

All I have to say is what comp has Kos been fighting? Its been a long time sense Alves and he lost and he is fighting some who hits harder than Paulo Thiago so Kos is in for it I'm picking Rumble by 2nd rd KO

We will see if he uses his wreslting he may get KTFO before he thinks of using it

That's more than a stretch...football players have to think of a post-college career, where wrestlers don't. Until recently, the only thing wrestlers had to look forward to after college was the Olympics. More money gets thrown at college football programs than probably all of the other sports combined, while wrestling programs continue to get cut across the country. The talent dropoff is not nearly as steep as football or many other sports...and It would be crazy to even make the comparison.

Also, Lesnar is a Division I champ, so I would expect him to say such things. But, regardless of the talent dropoff, to say that his TDD isn't good is absurd at the very least. I'm not gonna say that Koscheck won't be able to get it to the ground, but I have no doubt that he will struggle with takedowns and control.

I definately have Johnson via KO. IMO he will be the next real threat to GSP, but won't win as GSP will be able to accomplish what so many want Kos to do.
