neither one is relevant anymore in the most stacked division of MMA so Randy is getting some favors by fighting in the Geriatrics division. Randy basically lost to Vera after getting crippled 3 times in the fight and the same in his Lesnar/ Big Nog fights. That's why people have a problem with this. It could headline a free card, but headlining a 50 dollar card is a dud. This is like Bonnar vs Terry Martin headlining a card. Come on. Give Randy someone decent. Give him Chuck for a 4th go round, at least the styles make it interesting.

I actually really like this matchup. I feel neither guy is much of a threat to the top of either the HW or LHW divisions at this point. I'd love to see two old bastards who bring it like these two do go at it. Two great wrestlers- one freestyle, one Greco, both old as hell, both HoF. I think it will be awesome.

Just as a side note- if I could go to the old folks' home and pay to watch two old guys beat the piss out of each other I'd probably do that, too haha

I was actually hoping that if Tito won against Forrest, then he could fight Randy again...

I agree with most of you, Coleman is not the right opponent for Couture considering his recent win over Vera, but it's been years in the making so why not let Couture beat up the Hammer? Couture will be able to keep it standing enough to eventually TKO Coleman. However I don't think this will do his career or contendership any good. I love the idea of having him fight Tito again....at least that is if Tito can get past Forrest.

Relax everyone, I think Sherdog slipped up. According to mmajunkie.com, This fight is scheduled to be the CO-main event. Silva and Belfort and tentatively scheduled to be the main event with this fight filling in if that one falls through.

As far as the fight, I don't understand the criticism this fight is getting. I saw this one coming a mile away. It makes sense, and it's a sentimental favorite. Two hall of famers who should have met at the beginning of their careers meet at the end of their careers. I think both of them will cancel out each other's wrestling, which leads me to believe it'll be a stand-up war, which I think couture will win.

I doubt this will headline the event, but if it does, It's worth it for me just because of the history these two fighters carry.

Not excited about this. Coleman would have been worked over by Tito. He's lucky he pulled out of it.

If it was fight on a regular card I wouldn't be hating on it so much.

Not main event worthy, IMO.

Edit:

I was excited seeing Randy fight LHW but after the Vera fight I realized he's not going to be doing much.

I can't really see a big audience getting pumped up to pay for this one. There would have to be a really stellar co main event to sell me. Everything about this matchup strikes me as filler. It's a fun matchup, just a really lackluster main event--I think the reaction the UFC is going to get is going to make them think twice about going through with this one.

This fight makes absolutely no sense to me. Mabeys if Randy had lost to Brandon it might of been viable,

Did you see that fight? Randy certainly wasn't a winner when it was all said and done. I think Zuffa understands that they'll have a very tough sell trying the pass Randy as a contender, so they'll try to find match-ups that work. I've got no problem with this fight at all. Randy is the reason why I even started watching MMA (Sylvia fight is what drew me in). I understand that he's not going to be a true contender at this stage of his career. But as long as they want to trott him out there I'll be watching.

Frankly I admire both of these guys for there descipline and dedication to a craft which entertains myself and the masses. Both appear to be class guys, and while they don't exacly conjure up images of the most exciting fight in history, I believe it will be thrilling for other reasons.

props Zuffa if you ask me.

this is a match that ive been waiting to see for a long time, granted it was a lot more relevant a decade ago, but i like the fact that 2 HOFers are going to get it on. this may not end up being the fastest paced fight ever, but these are 2 legends that deserve all the respect in the world and im glad they both have been fortunate enough to stay in the fight game long enough for this fight to finally happen.
