osh Barnett took the tournament gold in the ultra heavyweight/pessadisimo (over 215 pounds) division among the blackbelts at the World Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championship 2009 held at California State University in Long Beach, Calif., on Nov. 8. In the tournament final, Barnett bested Ralph Gracie pupil, Bruno Paulista.

Paulista had an impressive showing against the larger Barnett — he demonstrated nifty guardwork, locking up Barnett and threatening him with triangle choke from high guard and arm bar via knee bar feint. Despite struggling to pass Paulista’s guard, Barnett defended well against his submission attempts and kept up the pressure throughout the 10 minute contest.

Really wish he didn't F up his fight with Fedor. Would have loved to see it.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in the playground is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no props, and may the mods have mercy on your soul.

I don't care if he fights in Zimbabwe as long as he's back in action soon.

Was there any drug testing at this cali Bjj event? Wonderin if he passed the test or if he didnt have to take one?

Roids have tarnished his career, but he still has skills. Strikeforce needs any and all top comp not in the UFC. I would bet anything Strikeforce signs him.

If SF ever held an event outside of the U.S. (without testing) we could see the HW roid championship fight

Barnett vs Overeem

Haha, maybe they could design a new belt for the new roid champ, one thats twice the size of the original belt...

There was no drug testing for this event . Its not really even the World nogi championship . All you needed to qualify for this tournament was 120 $ . No grappling experience required , white belts could join , it could of been your first roll and then make the claim you competed in the no gi worlds

I like the idea of a roid championship. Fedor has been crushing roiders for years , i say let them juice to their hearts content and then face fedor on new years in japan .

I can no longer ever support Josh Barnett due to his involvements with banned substances. Sad but true!

I don't want to shock your system too much; but ahhh LOTS of guys who you probably are supporting are on banned substances. Their just better at not getting caught.

He is still a very talented heavyweight, one of the best.

I for one would like to see him come back clean and still prove his worth in mma.

People make mistakes, that's life.

Also, lets not forget the amount of fighters who were using and have not been caught. Sports athletes will always use (not just mma) it will never go away. Never.

People are supposed to learn from their mistakes though. Barney has tested positive 3 times.

Has Overeem tested positive before?
