jay-z is up there for me as is dmx, but the one guy that i cant stand that people seem to love is biggie. the guy sounds like hes got a mouth full of pudding constantly, and his voice is nowhere near the guys i consider the best ever like chuck d and cube. i know ill catch some heat for that because a lot of people think hes one of the GOAT, but i just dont see it. another guy im not a fan of is 2pac, and i know hes another one that people hold in high regard, but to me hes always going to be a backup dancer for shock g.

DMX is up there for me as well. The No Limit Days with Master P was not that great. I got caught up and spent like $200 on their cds from different artists. I don't listen to any of them today. I also agree with Jay Z. He has a few songs here and there I like but I do not own any of his cds. My buddy is absolutely in love with him but I don't see it.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in the playground is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no props, and may the mods have mercy on your soul.

Might be because Biggie's been dead for several years now.

Rap is one of the few styles I do not listen to now but if I had to pick one, it's obvious...and silly-Shaquille O'Neal. And I've got 2 of his albums too, gotta get the 3rd one!

i agree with the 2 you mentioned too, and i knew a lot of people think of 2pac and biggie the same as you do thats why they are overrated to me, i just dont see them as top 10 but i guess album sales might say otherwise. im more of an old school guy i guess and i just dont get their popularity, the east coast/west coast thing made them popular in turn making them appear better than they really were IMO.

im old school as well, which is why I listed the 2 I did. And I wasnt speaking of album sales. Lyrical content, lyrical delivery, quality and impact are things I look at. 2pac and biggie are around 9 and 10 in my top 10

I always enjoyed Biggie but was never a huge 2Pac fan.

2pac i can give a lot more credit to than biggie, he had a decent delivery and voice, he just rubs me wrong going from digital underground to this hardcore gangster, its a total studio sham and that bugs me. i cant say one good thing about biggie though, ive listened to him and i cant stand the mouth full of something sound that comes out of him, its incredibly annoying to me and i have too hard of a time getting past that to give him credit for anything else. hes lucky to have been in the business at the right time with the right guy pulling the strings.

EDIT: and i totally didnt think you were talking about album sales, i was just arguing against myself more or less.

2Pac and Biggie are mid-school rappers. To me, anything produced after The Chronic is no longer old school.

I thought 2 Pac got much better with age. I'm sure the studio thing had a part in it but his All Eyez on Me album from start to finish is one of the best hip hop albums ever made. I was never a huge Biggie fan. I agree that his delivery and tone of voice had a large part in that. Sounded like he was eating a double cheese burger every time he rapped

Two rappers that I never really understood their popularity are Lil Wayne and Nas.

lol, have you seen the movie Nothing But Trouble? I can't help but think of that movie when I think of 2pac. I'll admit that I like some of his music, but it's difficult getting his old image out of your head for sure.

i was going to mention it grappler, but i was afraid of the repercussions of saying too much bad about 2pac.

i knew someone would mention eminem. im not a fan of the person, or even a big fan of his music, but the guy is undeniably talented IMO. he makes things rhyme that just shouldnt fit together, and has a great flow. i cant list him as one of the guys i think is overrated, hes one of the few truly talent rappers to come out after the early 90's IMO.
