Former PRIDE Lightweight Champion Takanori Gomi recently told a Japanese website that he wants to fight current UFC Lightweight Champion BJ Penn. But preferably not in UFC. The reason? As he says, "Mr. Dana White is a great manager and I respect him but is a person hard to deal with."

right, he couldn't KO the mighty sergey golyev but he's going to KO a guy who has never been KOed. GSP basically pinned his head to the ground and punched it for 15 minutes straight and he was somehow still standing up walking to his corner.

Gomi might hit hard, but BJ doesn't seem like a guy who will get KOed by any lightweight. Gomi would more than likely get out-boxed and submitted.

I'm so sick of fighters making comments like this about Dana White. The man may be difficult but he earned the position he is in. Him and the Fertittas took a chance on a dying sport (they could have lost a lot of money) and made it what it is through hard work. He is more important to the sport today than any single fighter. These guys who refuse to fight for the UFC are cheating themselves. The UFC is the undisputed #1 organization. Everything else you do will be "B level". If fighters want to be legitimate champions, pound for pound greats, or legends in the sport than the UFC is where they need to be.

If he fought BJ Penn in the UFC many people would watch it and it would be meaningful. Anywhere else only the hardcores would even know it happened. And the only reason for BJ to be fighting somewhere else would be if he washed out of the UFC.

Does this mean I agree with Dana White on all or most of his policies? Absolutely not. But no one other than him has the right to make the decisions and he came to that power through his own ingenuity and hard work. Like it or not it is his way or the highway.

Let's take some things into consideration:

1. BJ destroyed Gomi in the first fight
2. BJ's skillset has improved since the fight
3. Gomi's skillset has not improved since the fight

In conclusion, Gomi is either:

A. delusional
B. using kindergarten psychology in an attempt to secure a big payday

And Elvis Sinosic (sp?) could k.o Anderson Silva. But realisticly, in a fight where hes not armed with a heavy blunt object, its not going to happen.

Get yourself back into the top 10 Takanori, then start talking about what you could do to B.J Penn.

The only explanation for this is that Gomi is desperate. He's lost 2 outta his last 3 fights and isn't even in the top 10 on most major sites lists.

He'd lose to a good amount of UFC LWs before he could even get to BJ. Not to mention, BJ has beat him already.

Gomi, Dana might be hard to deal with, but you are also ridiculous for thinking you should get a shot to even be in the same octagon as BJ Penn right now. Win some fights against tough opposition and then you might have some more credibility.

sounds like gomi isn't happy w/ the money dana offered. i guess "the fireball kid" has conveniently forgotten he hasn't looked like a world beater in quite some time. although he could be complaining about zuffa's exclusive contracts, i would guess he's unhappy about not getting enough $$$$$$$$$$$ in the contract

BJ beat Gomi fairly badly their first fight and now he thinks he will beat an improved and in much better shape BJ Penn. Gomi really sounds crazy here. How about you beat any of the top 5 LWs in the UFC and then we can talk about fighting BJ Penn.

Gomi is one of my all time favorites but he sure is crazy!!!!

I wish Gomi was fighting in the UFC though.
He is one of a few fighters out there who needs to be in the UFC.
Others being Fedor, Mousasi, Aoki, Melendez etc etc.

I think Gomi's smack talking is a ploy to convince the UFC to sign him.
It just might work.

Crazy bastid.

Dana White might be hard to deal with, but that isn't what's preventing Gomi from KO'ing B.J.
