Lesnar Officially Out
Now that Lesnar-Carwin is out I took another look at the fight card. Nearly every fighter on there is coming off a loss.
Ortiz Griffin Paisyan Sadollah Baroni Saunders Davis Grove Larson Foster
All coming off loses! The main event fighters boast a combined four losses and a draw in their last five bouts! This is by far the worst PPV card the UFC has put on in recent memory, this wouldn't even stack as a free card for me. Not a one of these guys are even 2 or 3 wins away from even being considered a contender. Ortiz hasn't even fought in 18 months, and he hasn't had a win in three years. He hasn't beaten someone who isn't Ken Shamrock in almost four years. And we all know how Forest's last bout went...does anyone think he is ready to try and go out to perform in a MAIN EVENT?!?!
If you happen to have live tickets to this show I'll give you $15 for them...actually lets make it an even ten bucks and you throw in air fare. Thats a damn good deal you better take it before they knock anymore fights off the card. Forest gets injured and before you know it: UFC 106 ORTIZ VS WHITE: THE GRUDGE IS FINALLY SETTLED!

Maybe if the UFC had been smart enough to wrap up Hendo's contract quickly we could be seeing Hendo-Marquardt square off as a co-main event. That fight would at least have some meaning in a title picture.

This thread =
WTF is so bad about this card? Who cares if their a fight or 2 or even 3 away? Does it matter? You got big names, house hold names in almost every fight. ITS A SPORT!!! It's like the NFL, the Dolphins are my favorite team. I want to watch them every weekend. Are they the best team in the league or even their division right now? No but their exciting to watch to me and I love watching them play. And just for the fact they could still fight their way to the top of the division, excites me. Vice versa how any of these guys could easily turn their careers around with their fights.
True fans don't care about the hype. True fans love the sport because of the sport. Not because of the names. I love watching the fights. I love MMA, I love MMA fights. **** I watched MFC a few weeks ago if you even know what company that is just because I loved the sport. And in most opinions the rejects of the UFC fought. The main event was Lutter/Macdonald. Other fights were Mike Nickels/David Heath, Alessio/Lugi, and even Pete Spratt were on the card.
And I haven't even backed up the fights yet. Every last one of these fights I could see being a freakin war or a sick KO because you have some exciting fighters who always have great fights or sick KO artist on here. I love watching wars & KO's as Im sure everybody else on this site does too. Of course you didn't mention Lil Nog/Luiz Cane which is a top 10 LHW fight that WILL also be a sick fight!!! Not to mention we get a rematch between 2 house hold names that had an extremely close 1st fight and we finally get to see it get settled.
Why don't you watch it for the love of the sport and not the hype

Nog-Cane have publically said that they don't even want to fight each other, so I can see that one being a bit of a disapointment, also the UFC does not even have it listed on the website fight card which is why I missed it.
Of course I love the sport, which is why I want to see it at its best. Fans of any sport want to see the best go at it. Thats why the NFL brings the Patriots to London, not the Redskins or the Chiefs, thats why the cameras in the Tour De France follow Armstrong and Contador, the examples go on and on. When you love a sport you want to see it achieved at the highest level. If you like watching fights that are just talentless brawls than maybe you are a fan of violence not MMA. I'm not saying these fighters are talentless, I'm saying that none of them have shown the greatness that gets me pumped up and gets me feeling, alright NOW its time to see some skills, now THIS is the UFC, and HERE WE GO...

I just dont like change, I get excited for the card as its first announced and when it starts to crumble it dissapoints me is all. I dont even really care for either of these fighters(carwin/lesnar) but i want to see it because they said it was going to happen so I look for the good in each fight and hype them myself if need be but change for the most part in the UFC =sucks

Not that long ago UFC 95 was the butt of a lot of criticism for not having a big main event (was rumored to have been Chuck vs. Anderson but did not materialise). This event produced a lot of highlight reel KOs, the Sub of the year and the huge upset over Koscheck. The Lesnar main event was a fight that I was looking forward to but it is ridiculous to presume that the rest of the card will be bad. There are some big names on this card and I'm pretty sure they will add another big fight.

They need to book another main event and book it fast.
I think they'll have decent buys from Tito returning, but it won't be what Dana expects if they don't add another exciting matchup to the card.

I hope so but they seem to have already announced Tito-Forest as the main event.

I'll admit that with the loss of Carwin vs. Lesnar the card doesn't seem as great anymore. That being said, I think Noguiera vs. Cane will be an amazing fight that will showcase a lot of serious talent. I know Cane said he didn't really want to fight Noguiera, but I don't remember Lil Nog saying anything about not wanting to fight Cane?? Could you post a source for that? This is a serious test for both men who are very likely up and coming contenders.
Anyways, it always seems like the fights that aren't going to be that great turn out to be the best. I thought Stevenson vs. Fisher was going to be a brawl, but look how that fight went down. Just saying.

I don't care about "household names" that can pull a lot of buys, I care about seeing a fight between two upper echelon guys. Kimbo is a household name, I would never pay to watch a card where he is in the main event.

I agree, I think cards where people are coming off of losses have potential to be great, 'cause some of the fighter's have their backs to the wall, and need to impress or win. i for one will be ordering it, and I think it'll probably be more enjoyable then UFC 104 was.

Although I'm not as pumped for it, it has the potential for fireworks. I can't wait to see McLovin back!!
