LOS ANGELES – When the UFC first visited Los Angeles' Staples Center for UFC 60 in May 2006, the event was considered by many as a bit of a disappointment at the gate after it attracted just 10,347 paid attendees.

Just two days away from the organization's return to the venue, UFC president Dana White said he's content with the sales this time around.

And that's despite the fact that White said he has distributed 3,300 complimentary tickets in recent fan giveaways.

Indianapolis needs the UFC.

Fleek needs the UFC...and free tickets from Dana.

Makes me angry.. Instead of giving 3300 tickets away. They should lower ticket prices. I wanted to go but not paying $100 for the nosebleeds.

As great as that sounds when one's looking to buy tickets, it would be a terrible business move.

Terrible business move?

Lets say those 3300 tickets Dana gave away were the cheapest nosebleed tickets ($100)

$330,000 he gave away at the very least.

Yes, terrible.

Unless they intend on permanently lowering the price, they would be cheapening the brand. It may sound funny, but it's true. That's the reason why there are certain brand products you'll never see discounted. 330k is nothing compared to devaluing your brand and product permanently. Not to mention, doing these twitter give-a-ways is a fresh way of reaching out to fans, which carries a certain value itself.

Now, I've heard Dana talking about lowering ticket prices, due to the economy. If they are ready to take that plunge, then they should go for it...if not, I doubt you'll see a temporary price drop any time soon.

But they have to know this is a subpar card. Perhaps you're right, it's better to have a single card that does not do so well, rather than lower ticket prices altogether.

I wasn't aware that ufc ticket prices where universal??? If thats true then that would be the dumbest bussiness move i have ever heard of, ever. Machida vs Shogun fighting in L.A. will draw half the ticket sells of GSP fightin in Canada.

Product and Demand. When demand is high prices are high, when product is high prices are low. Economy/Business 101 one of the first things taught.

If you have extra Nose Bleed tickets, drop the prices or send them to radio stations across america for advertising.

Or if Dana was smart he should send them all to me, and i will share them with the entire playground. (how awesome would that be if the playground went to an event in large numbers, haha)
