LOS ANGELES – UFC fans hoping to hear a positive update on current free agent Dan Henderson's return to the UFC might not want to read any further.

"We're at a stalemate right now," White said. "The money that [Henderson] is asking for would make him by far the highest-paid guy in the UFC."

Perhaps... but Dana says this about every one he can't come to terms with.

If this is true then Dan needs to back down. What makes him think he deserves more than the champions who have already beaten him. I cant see any other org offering to pay him more than the likes of Chuck and Lesnar make in the UFC.

Take it for what it's worth (probably nothing) but MMABay is reporting that Henderson was asking for a 7-figure signing bonus...

If they could work out a deal with couture, then they should be able to work out a deal with hendo. Lets just end this non-sense.

It depends on whether or not Hendo thinks he's worth as much as Couture...which he's not. Couture had (and still has) name value.

This all seems pretty strange. Dan must realize that he isn't worth that much money. The average fan has no clue who he is. I would imagine he's going to realize that he probably won't get a better offer from anyone else.

Maybe he's just trying to play hardball to get the UFC to raise their offer slightly.

Couldn't agree more, if the rumors are true Hendo just did himself out of not only a good contract renegotiation but also possibly the highest offer he was going to get.
The UFC would have offered a competitive if not the best contract he was going to get to keep him in their roster, Strikeforce mustn't be able to offer much with M1 taking a cut of the profits and the like of Mousasi, Babalu and Sokoudjou picking up big pay packets. Not to mention Diaz, Thompson, Randalman and Overeem are all reportable picking up close to 6 figure purses for each fight.

Dream could offer a pretty big purse but I doubt it'd be a big as the on the UFC offered. I hope Hendo finds a home soon and gets the money he deserves but after reading what Dana said I'm pretty sure he's not joking and Hendo just made a big mistake.

If this statement is true then negotiations would have ended the day they started. I think Dana white is doing what he usually does and exagerating the situation.

Share the wealth Dana. These are the best most exciting athletes in the world and they need to be making more money--at least the top guys. look at other athletes in top organizations. $1,000,000.00 isn't that much for a signing bonus, really. Withoput these talented exciting fighters the UFc would be chaulked full of buffed-out wrestlers giving the fans 15 minutes of ground 'n pound. that thought alone makes me want to get back in to boxing.
Take care of your boys Dana--especially Dan! (who happens to be my all-time favorite fighter) this guy will help elevate you rcompany to the next level with out a doubt.
DON'T LET DAN GET AWAY!!!!

I don't buy it. Having followed Hendo's career for a long time and seeing him in countless interviews all my alarm signals are going off here. If anything else Dan Henderson seems like a very down to earth and practical guy. He doesn't seem to have an ego problem and he doesn't seem to be the kind of guy who wants to stir up a **** storm. More like the guy who puts in his hard work, expects fair compensation, shuts up, and fights the very best who are put in front of him.

Dana, on the other hand, is known for his outbursts and over the top comments. He's known to ruffle feathers, put feelers out, and attempt to sway the public to his side.

Basically what I'm saying is that Dan Henderson seems like a very logical and extremely practical guy. Dana White seems like a very savvy businessman who knows how to get the fans and media on his side. I'm not saying he's a slimebag or anything, but that he's likely to tell a white lie much moreso than Dan Henderson is.

I'm honestly trying to take all emotion out of the equation by separating myself as a Dan Henderson fan, and I find that if I'm doing that correctly logic favors Dan Henderson.

A couple of things, first if watch wrestlers g'n'p for 15 minutes makes you want to go back to watching boxing then why is Hendo your favourite fighter? for the most part other than throwing that big right (one that had only landed on Wandi in 3 years before Bisping) Hendo was doing just that.

Secondly did you learn nothing from the Afflcition debarcle? Any company in existance needs to make profit to survive, you do this by paying a fighter the minimum it is worth you paying them without them leaving, that's what capitalism is.

If you over pay fighters you lose money, if you lose money you go out of business and all the fighters lose money.

I guarantee Tim Sylvia would rather have been getting 100k and 100k per fight for the next few years than 800k and nothing for a one off that now sees him picking up scraps for the rest of his career.

Hendo is worth money, worth big money, he is noth worth a mil$ becoz he can not make the UFC a mil $. There is a reason the UFC is the only successful MMA org (along with Strikeforce) its becoz they have developed a pay scale that is sustainable, there is also a reason the UFC is top dog, its becoz the py scale is such that intisices the best to fight there and keeps them there.

Could they be paid more? Well I'd like for them to make big, big money, I'd like the pre-lim guys to be making bank, its the greatest sport in the world BUT to say that in a sport thats not even mainstream guys should be getting more than 1 mil signing bonus?
