“I was disappointed. I think it was typical of people that don’t know anything about the sport. I know it’s for fun, but the second half of it really wasn’t even funny. We like fighting, but to make it sound like the UFC crowd is this bloodthirsty crowd that shows up and just want to see people get their (butts) kicked — that’s not true. That’s the stigma that the mainstream has of us. The Simpsons program will show you how mainstream we’re not.”
UFC President Dana White reacts to the sport of mixed martial arts getting satirized by The Simpsons last Sunday night on television.

The same thing could be said about Never Back Down (2008) and Fighting (2009) or for that matter any movie or show about fighting. I thought the Simpsons was funny and its a cartoon.

yes it is. half of the time the crowd boos when someone isn't getting KO'ed or TKO'ed

Looking at some of the camera panning across UFC events, doesn't surprise you the Simpsons took that angle, really.

Oh come on Dana, from a president that can't give an interview without throw F-shots you sure are sensitive about satire. The bottom line is that every crowd on the Simpsons is blood thirsty, regardless of the sport. Episodes featuring football, hockey, etc. all feature riots and fighting in the crowd.
I didn't see the episode, but I thought it would be cool to have the just bleed guy on it. lol

I liked it and I thought it was very funny. If you make the Simpsons you should be honored.

I thought the episode was mediocre at best and the Simpsons are irrelivant. I mean, when's the last time, aside from this episode, that any of us were remotely excited to watch the Simpsons?
When's the last time anyone tuned in on a sunday? It stayed on a decade too long and I don't understand the significance of making it on the Simpsons during their crappiest stretch.
I'm not siding with Dana or anything, but seriously, who gives a flying **** what happens on this archaic, decaying, show. If MMA gets on South Park then we have something to see. But the Simpsons are just lame as ****.

Haha, go playground! Fact of the matter is 90% of MMA "fans" are bloodthirsty idiots. You have a very small minority that understands what the sport is really about (and I'd say 99% of the playground are these people) but for the most part it's a bunch of bloodthirsty idiots. I didn't have a problem with the episode.

I thought the show was funny, most likely because I was actually interested in it otherwise I havnt found the simpsons funny since I was in the sixth grade.
Regardless of how mma was depicted in the episode it is still good exposure for the sport and ufc
South Park has a WWE episode coming up on the wed the 21st, now I dont watch pro wrestling but im curious to see how it compares to what the simpsons did with mma.

chances are if your either popular, loved, hated, known worldwide, the simpsons have made a joke or two about you... if anything it would kinda be a type of flattery that the simpsons made fun of the UFC. MMA is on the rise and becoming very popular so it was only a matter of time before the simpsons got their hands on the UFC. Dry those tears dana

Honestly I think they could've done a better job of poking fun at mixed martial arts stereotypes. A lot of the humor was vague and "cookie cutter". The best line was "Oh no, that woman's breasts are natural.... this can't be good"
I think if it had been better researched we would've seen more jokes about Tatoos, Affliction/Tapout Shirts, Beer, Booing, muscle bound guys with buz cuts... that sort of thing. Joe Rogan always does an excellent job satirizing mixed martial arts culture.
