Reports are now out that WEC 43 did a total of 419,000 viewers Saturday night on Versus. This was down 37% from WEC 42 in August, but this can partly be blamed on Versus not being available on satellite provider DirecTV due to a pricing dispute with Comcast, and it being the rare WEC show to not feature one of their major draws-Urijah Faber, Miguel Torres, or Mike Thomas Brown.

I feel sorry for those 37% because they missed one heck of a show. Just great fights and it was on a saturday too.

Is 419,000 viewers for an MMA event good/acceptable/poor in the US ?

Considering it's cable and WEC on Versus, I'd say normally acceptable. But considering a lot of fans don't have Versus due to the dispute and couldn't watch it, I'd say good.

So roughly how many viewers could/should this event have attracted ?

If I had to guess, I would've expected 500-600K. But we can't forget it didn't have Faber or Torres and it was up against college football. I admit I forgot about this card because I was watching Florida-LSU in primetime.

Sorry DC. I meant if it was available to it's usual audience, without the current conflict.

It's kinda skewed because the dispute kept a decent chunk out of the regular audience away anyway, it affects at least 2 million subscribers.

Anyway, if you missed it replays are tomorrow and Cerrone-Henderson can be seen for free on wec.tv.

I know I was one small portion of that 37%, and the reason was solely because of the pricing dispute. I've been told over and over again by direct tv, whom I just recently switched to that they are looking into different options, but they just cannot give into the demands that comcast is making. If that is true, then comcast is being unethical as hell, but it sure is good business. I am frustrated because I was really interested in that card, and it is difficult to watch the fights online with any picture quality, but I'm glad to see that they still had somewhat decent numbers...although I highly doubt zuffa would be happy with numbers like that for a ppv buy.
