there have been a lot of changes in the rankings and in general thoughts on how good some fighters really are since the playground started nearly three years ago. some guys were considered nearly unstoppable and have since proven to look like B level fighters, and some guys have just had age catch up with them. meanwhile, old stalwarts like fedor, couture, big nog, and bj penn just keep trucking forward remaining relevant and at/near the top of their respective weight classes. so who is the one fighter you think has taken the biggest hit to his stock in the past few years? lets remember to keep this clean and without fighter bashing, id like to see some of the guys i may not have thought about that have taken a plunge in the fans minds.

to me the big one is gomi, he was a world beater and was unanimously the #1 LW in the world and now hes nowhere near a top ten list. who has had a bigger slide in your opinion?

Since this is from the start of '07 on, it's a no-brainer to me: Mirko Cro Cop.

I hate to say it since he is one of my favorite fighters, but one obvious answer is Chuck Liddell. If my memory serves me correctly, he was ranked #1 on our fighter rankings for a bit at the start and a little bit after the playgrounds inception. Since his loss to Rampage, it pretty much been all downhill from there.

When I read the thread title, Rampage immediately came to mind. However, now that I have read the thread and saw what the critera are, I would say any of the big names

Cro cop
Wanderlei
Chuck
Hughes
Randy
Tim Sylvia

Filho
Gomi(although i always thought he was overrated)

Hughes rep, has drop a lot, but nothing compare to these guys, Hughes is still top 10 material with out a doubt, where you cant say the same for these guys. even though Filho has only lost 1, it was how he lost it that made his rep just die.

I feel it is hands down Wandy, after his loss to CC he just hasn't ever been the same. I also think CC and Chuck both should also be on the list.

ive got to say fedor.

not becuase hes losing fights like everyone else listed here.but just because he has lost so many fans and has gotten the most backlash from the playground.

crocop is second because suicidal thoughts are never good.

Chuck and Wandy have to be up there. Gomis a good call too, hes barely even ranked top 10 anymore. Id say possibly Shogun aswell. Its undeserved, but this is a guy who, three years ago, was probably known as one of the top 3 wrecking machines in MMA amongst the real fans. Now you get laughed at for saying he even has a chance to beat Lyoto.

Times havent been easy on Big Tim and AA amongst fans over the last few years either.

I agree with most of the fighters on this list, except for Fedor.

One fighter no one has mentioned yet is Paulo Filho. At the dawn of '07 he was though of as a definite top 5 MW with the potential to be the best in the division. Now he is thought of as a flakey fighter who doesn't make weight, says outlandish things, and is prone to seeing jesus while in the cage.

Id like to mention Jens Pulver. His fall probably started with lauzon in late 06. Including the fight with Joe he has gone 1-7 in the last three years, thats a big deal considering at one point he was the number one lightwieght in the world and beating Penn for his first bid at the title.

Shogun... really? The guys only lost once in 3 years... And not since Babalu in 03 if you look past the broken arm against Coleman... Guess I don't get that one...

Can't really argue with the rest though
