Mauricio Ruas’s coach Andre Dida (the Muay Thai specialist and K-1 fighter) has been reponsible for Shogun’s preparation for his upcoming fight against light-heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida on October 24th.
Dida says, “He is very confident. He’ll face a striker and he is trained for it. It won’t be only a stand-up fight but Mauricio is ready to surprise everybody. Shogun is well-trained. We worked knowing that Lyoto is an athlete who moves very much. We know how this fight will go and have A, B, C and D plans. Shogun will know all the moves from Machida”.

If Shogun knocks him out it's probably in rounds 1-3, if it goes past that Machida should be favored to win a decision. I think if Shogun wins by Sub it's earlier as he might not have the tank to defend'em or get'em while I think Machida could. If Shogun has his tank back it'll be that much better of a fight and with that said I would also say Shogun's overall BJJ is better. I think it's somewhat ridiculous to pick Machida by Strikes but we'll see, plenty of guys have gotten stopped while gassed.

I'd torn between a Machida UD or a Machida 3RD TKO

This is an improbable outcome as Lyoto is going to smash Rua's face through the bud Light logo early in the second. Shortly after he finds his range.

I say The Dragon puts the Shogun away in late round 1 or early to middle round 2.

Not so long ago I read how easy it was going to be for Soko to beat Machida.

i'm in the same boat as you and virtually everyone else that has posted in this thread, the dragon will stop rua in the third. i think shogun could possibly give machida problems in the early going, but mauricio's aggression will eventually be his downfall imo

Haha, my thoughts exactly. The Machida bandwagon is filling up nicely.
