Bellator Fighting Championships has cleared middleweight champion Hector Lombard for a return to action in his home country when he faces UFC veteran Kalib Starnes at Cage Fighting Championship Oct. 9 in Queensland, Australia.
Lombard, a 31 year-old native of Matanzas, Cuba, recently returned to the US after an extended vacation in his adopted hometown of Sydney to begin training.

Why is Hector wasting his time, he's a champ, though its Bellator, theres alot of good quality fighters in that Org, so...???gotta be someone else to bang with that could benefit his career

Lame match up....there are many more quality MWs out there who would like that shot...probably make for a better fight too.

It's weird too cause Starnes was on a good streak before that happened. Now its all he is remembered by.

I met Starnes at the Pan Ams in '07, and he's a really nice guy. Would love to see him pull out the upset!!

I wouldn't say it was a good streak. He had two notable wins (MacDonald and Leben), but I think he was 1-3 in the UFC after the fight with Quarry. He had potential, but never seemed to develop. Maybe had he worked with a better camp he might have been better. Then again, I get the sense he had (has) some issues.
