"More than two years have passed since Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou knocked out Ricardo Arona at the final Pride Fighting Championships event in Japan. Viewed by most as one of the top light heavyweight fighters in the world in 2005 and 2006, Arona disappeared from the mixed martial arts scene in wake of Pride’s demise.

“The Brazilian Tiger” -- who built his reputation, in part, on the back of a 1999 victory over Jeff Monson in the absolute final of the Abu Dhabi Combat Club Submission Wrestling World Championships -- will return to MMA this Saturday when he meets UFC veteran Marvin Eastman in the Bitetti Combat Nordeste 4 main event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It will also mark the first time Arona competes inside a cage."

Before his break, he was top 10 in anyones ranking. He Isn't an easy fight for anyone, but I would have to back Machida if they fought.

Arona would be a good edition to any orginisation.

Where are all the other talented "lost" pride fighters?

Aleks, Sergi, Gomi...they are too quiet for my liking. I enjoyed watching them all.

Assuming he beats Eastman (he will or at very least should) then I think the UFC should snatch him up. He definately needs a warm up fight coz he's been out for a long time.

Love to see Arona in a cage with elbows... dude got robbed in that Fedor fight

I would like to see Arona back in action, but I would have to put Machida over him for sure.

Aarona has a lot to prove to me before I would get too excited. He's just been out for far too long.

The UFC LHW division is stacked with a lot of heavy hitters right now. It would be nice to get a strong submission guy in there like Arona to possibly shake things up.

i agree, hes probably the best in the world at 205 at the sub game, plus as people have said for years, the use of elbows can only make him that much more dangerous.

The elbows would certainly help shed his tendency to control his opponents (see his ADCC record) and go to decision.
