Don't expect Gegard Mousasi to waste too much time before making his first Strikeforce title defense.
While current champs Alistair Overeem (heavyweight), Cung Le (middleweight) and Josh Thomson (lightweight) have each gone more than a year since last defending their Strikeforce belts, Mousasi, who delivered former champ Renato "Babalu" Sobral a brutal 60-second knockout on Saturday to claim the 205-pound title, is ready to pounce on his new weight class. Unless they sign some more talant I do not see any challenging competition for him. I would much rather see what he would do in the UFC.

There's still at least a couple worthy challenges out there for him. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, King Mo(although he's a little green still), and Ricardo Arona is returning to action.

Who cares, Geggard fights everywhere. So he has access to every fighter not in the UFC. Mousasi wants to be the best, he's only 24...he wants to continue to improve, so when he goes to the UFC he can be champ...if what he says is true, he'll enter UFC when he's 27 and dominate til he's 35.
Don't push him guys.
Right now (according to fightmatrix) Soko (Schedualed) Lil Nog Paulo Fihlo King Mo Trevor Prangley Mike Whitehead Mamed Khalidov Robert Jocz Stanislav Nedkov Jared Hamman
Others: Tim Boetsch Keven Randleman Rafael Cavalcante Jason Lambert Victor Valimacki Christian MPumbu
These are all relevant competition that Moussasi can face within the next 3 years...especially if he fights 4-5 times a year.

the big advantage mousasi has had is that hes been slowly brought up into it and that should continue, the guys 24 let him fight southworth sokoudju by the time hes 26 or 27 he will be in the ufc ready for tougher tests
id also like to see him drop back down to middleweight

Always thought he looked like a real skinny Middleweight...but at 205 he looked, well, like a big 205lber.
I think 205 is a healthy cut for him if he walks at 215.

But he's the champ now. How many of these guys deserve title shots in Strikeforce?
Those will probably be the only M1 co-promoted shows.

Prolly all of them deserve shots. I mean, its not the UFC. Its strikeforce, anybody who is decent can get a title shot, there really is no number one contender shot. And being a strikeforce champion means absolutely nothing in terms of exclusivity. Moussasi will still fight dream, and M-1...well, both co-promote, but still. He'll fight often...he'll just go through that whole list of challengers within the next three years.
