Thales Leites was stunned on Saturday when he heard that judges had come to a split decision in his fight with Alessio Sakara at UFC 101 at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia. He was even more stunned when he came out on the short end of the verdict.

But the really shocking news came on Thursday, when he learned he was being dropped by the Ultimate Fighting Championship only four months after competing for the middleweight title.

It turns out, though, that Leites still has a job with the UFC.

for all the bad things said about dana, he isnt so hardheaded that when he makes a mistake, or the fans want something that he wont go ahead and flip a decision made earlier. god for both of those guys and the ufc. i dont think it hurts that SF has been signing fighters lately either, it makes dana want to hang on to talent.

I mean you could make a case for Thales to be released in his last two fights, basically refusing to engage. I think that was in the play by play in the fight against sakara.

But given these young guys another chance is a good, because they always have room for improvement and they have the time because they are young.

my guess is that McCrory is going to move to MW that's why they are keeping him aroung......Leites IMO should have been released after those two performances.

That's exactly it. Dana doesn't want ANYONE who the fans favor with going to Strikeforce.

McCrory deserved to be back in the UFC. Entertaining fighter and is a good fighter. As for Leites, why bring him back? I don't want to see another one of his fights. His last few fights he was refusing to engage and he should have beat Sakara easily.

I think they are both talented enought to stick around for a bit, however give them the "fight to keep their jobs" warning prior to their next match. Tell them so that it makes them more eager and aggressive. If you put on a great match and lose then I think you should stay. Leites would be very close to getting cut IMO though due to his performances being lackluster.

NEW UPDATE!!!!!!!!!

DANA CHANGED HIS MIND FOR REAL, LEITES AND THE BARN CAT ARE OUT !!!
i think it's a messed up way to do business saying you are still in then decide hours later that they aren't and there out and cut of a job
