Strikeforce, DREAM to Enter Partnership |

Strikeforce and DREAM are expected to announce a partnership shortly that could see an exchange of fighters between the two promotions.
Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker revealed Monday night in a radio appearance on The Carmichael Dave Show that Strikeforce will enter into an "alliance" with Fighting Entertainment Group, the parent company of Japan's No. 1 mixed martial arts group.

This does absolutely nothing for me, as far as HWs and Fedor goes.
But! I would love to see some intermixing in the other classes.
Aoki vs Melendez
Alverez vs Thomson
Manhoef vs Lawler
Souza vs Shields
Mayhem vs Diaz
Theres some cool possibilites....but let Fedor fight Rogers, Overeem, Werdum and maybe some other guys they could sign..like Monson or something..
But please no Canseco, Sapps or Minowas

Fedor can't fight DREAM fighters as part of the Strikeforce/Dream partnership only as part of the Strikeforce/Dream/M1 partnership.

it creates interesting fights for the hardcore fan but the problem for them is that the hardcore fans watch DREAM and Strikeforce anyway. That move doesnt raise their profile at all except it allows DREAM to put on better cards for the Japanese fans.
As far as raising the bar and gaining more casual US fans to compete with UFC - the move doesnt do anything for either org at all in the United States. You can take all the best guys in the world outside the UFC and make a super league and at this point in 2009 that super league is still inferior to UFC. The non-UFC league would have Fedor and a few HW, almost no LHW, few of the top MW, almost no top WW and a decent amount of the LWs - who all would still be underdogs to BJ Penn in a fight.
most of the fights that can be made by a crossover are interesting but most are not any better than the fights that DREAM and Strikeforce already have been making in the past year.

there are some good fighters in Japan in the lower weight classes. I'dlove to Aoki come and fight in Strikeforce at his weight class. Good stuff.

Melendez seemingly ducked Aoki last time they were scheduled to fight, but i agree that i would love to see it.
all the other match-ups you listed are exactly the reason why i love this deal. i can live with Fedor not being in the UFC (because the UFC HW division really isn't all that great tbh) because i potentially get to see match-ups like those
