First the opponent, now the weight class?
Former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin's (25-4 MMA, 12-3 UFC) training plans continue to change, and a recently announced UFC 103 main-event bout with Vitor Belfort (16-8 MMA, 7-4 UFC) will now take place at a catchweight of 195 pounds instead of the originally announced light heavyweight class.

why do they keep makin franklin fight at 195. His last 3 fights have all been there. they should make him fight 205ers not 185ers at 195. i really wanted to see belfort vs wanderlei or henderson which i think makes the most sense winner gets title shot. should still be an awesome fight

I think this makes more sense. Good move.

I like this at 195 Belfort needs to be at 185 and I think Rich dosn't want to cut to 185 anymore. Henderson dosn't need another win to get his title shot.

i just dont like that they keep using him against 185ers. he needs to fight people in the 205 division imo

They could have easilly went with Hendo instead at 185, but I'm glad they didn't. That would have just turned into a wrestling clinic, as we've all seen for a BJJ BB, Vitor really doesn't have much in the way of offense.

I think they may have kept that fight on the feet thats where Vitor likes to be and Dan isn't affraid either not to mention Vitor just destroyed Linland I think Dan would want the redeption.

Stick Vitor, Ace, Wand and Hendo in there and they do have a nice core group of fighters who fit the range. I have never really liked the idea of a 195... but if they were going to do it this is a good group to establish a belt.

theres no point in another weight class machida or a. silva could rule the division if they wanted to as well, i seriously think the weight classes are fines they way they are i dont want mma to turn in to boxing weight classes maybe a cruiser weight (225-230) in like 5+ years or so when the HW division is staked but thats it

I am not saying I like it. Just that since it is pretty obvious that is what they are testing the waters for... they are doing it with good fighters.
