Fifty year old eighth degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Rickson Gracie has seen his fair share of controversy following his last professional fight in May of 2000.
The mythical submission specialist has claimed to possess a fighting record somewhere in the range of 400-0.

His ego is amazing. He wouldn't last pat the 1st round against either of those two. The are to fast and to strong for him

I like Rickson. He's very nice and personable (yes I have personally spoken with him), but I don't know why he says these things. Especially because he hasn't fought in almost a decade and appears to have no plans to compete again.
Then again, I kind of blame the guys interviewing him. They usually ask the questions and he answers them. I think it's a small chance he is calling up these guys after certain events and speaking his mind.

Every Gracie is arrogant, I actually think that's what their last name means in Portuguese (joking, of course). But just think, if we didn't have that classic Gracie arrogance, we would probably never have seen the success of the UFC.

Rickson is a legend and no doubt the best Gracie to compete in MMA competition to date and this is all to keep his name circling. He's always been a self promoter but respectfully, sorry Fedor would eat you alive.

Aw, come on now.
Against Lesnar, time isn't something you have much of. You better lock up something quick. Better keep him from smothering you and starting to land some jack hammers.
Fedor is to good at wrestling and stand up to let it go to the mat.
Did I mention the dude is 50 now?
Royce's jits was vastly superior to Hughes' and where did that get him?
Not saying in his prime he couldn't do it, but now....nah.

Does he forget this isnt the early 90's rules? Cant monkey cling the guy for 15minutes making no progress and be declared victor? In his prime he couldnt handle Lesnar now,Fedor would probably give him MMA's first recorded death.I think its the medication talking or something, those 400 proclaimed wins from probably one dimensional fighters to say the least. Gracies are over rated, sorry if that offends anyone. They contributed to the sport, but act like they hand molded it. Personally I feel alot of the improvements and progress as far as rules etc, came about to counter their pretty lame style. Yes they have outstanding BJJ but it was still lame to see them win simply because nobody knew how to counter their techniques. Like a 5th grader having a huge ego because he ran through 400 1st graders

Yeah but don't forget that against all odds, Royce came in and submitted Hughes for the WW title after a long layoff.
EDIT: My sources are telling me this never happened, there must be some mistake, Gracie's don't lose.

Hughes beat Royce AND they were at least in same weight class. Talking about 100lb difference basically (lesnar).Thats a SIGNIFICANT power advantage.Remember how prime Hughes slam people who attempted to armbar?I can visualize Brock laughing and literally shackin gracie off like a naive kitten trying to hang on.Yes they are technique experts, but its a new day. They didnt evolve, they just got better at what they already good at. One the many reasons you dont exactly hear them mentioned anymore unless its this type of self hyping.

Your confusion comes with the Title it was a catch weight bout.

It's too bad we didn't see Rickson in the first UFCs because he would have owned on a whole different level than Royce. There are blackbelts and then there are BLACKBELTS. 8th degree is pretty rarified air. It is also not a blackbelt. It's actually a red and black belt.
That said, Rickson in his prime would get destroyed by Fedor. Even in a "Gracie Rules" match he wouldn't last long.
Lesnar would also destroy Rickson, although there is always a chance that Rickson could pull a sub against Lesnar. I doubt the fight would ever get to the ground.
