Ever wonder what the odds are the you would end up seeing a fight between Tyson Griffin and Gray Maynard from Xtreme Couture; or a battle between Rashad Evans and Keith Jardine for Greg Jacksons?

Yes, I like what he's saying. But, is it ever really going to happen? They haven't done it yet. I don't ever see Maynard vs. Griffin or Fitch vs. Swick or Silva vs. Machida. Unless theres a falling out and someone leaves the camp.

these guys are in the gym everyday giving blood, sweat, and tears to try and make each other better fighters, and now you tell them they have no choice but to fight each other if that is the match up that's made? that just doesn't seem fair to me. don't get me wrong, i'd love to see some teammate vs. teammate fights but i just find this very unfair.

I'm not a big fan of teammate vs. teammate fights unless it is absolutely necessary. On TUF or in a tournament format it is fine. In the case of a clear cut #1 and #2 I can see an argument for it, too. In all likelihood, though, if there was a #1 ranked and #2 ranked the #2 guy would just let the #1 guy have the belt. That is an honor system I can get behind. This is martial arts. It is about tradition and legacy, and that should be upheld at all costs IMO.

It's going to be really easy for people to sit here and say teammates should fight each other, but I'm willing to make a pretty safe bet that those people aren't in the gym working with training partners who are their best friends every day. This is not something easy to do, so don't try to make light of the friendships these people have by saying it is. Some friends may be cool with it, but I think we should all understand that a choice like that is something they make on their own. We shouldn't force them one way or another.

Go ahead, Lorenzo. Try to get Anderson Silva to fight Lyoto Machida. You'll see how fast your hardballing blows up in your face.

If two fighters do not want to fight each other, then they should not fight each other. I think that they are mature enough to know that sometimes not agreeing to a fight puts them farther down in the rankings, but with the size of the UFC's roster and how stacked most of the divisions are at the top, the Fertittas, White, and Silva have so many other options than to force Rashad Evans and Keith Jardine to fight each other.

It has not happened yet and I think it is Joe Silva is making the decisions anyway and he probably takes teammates into account or does not tell Fetitia when he is turned down.

I have said this before not only would the gym the fight from be torn but you now have 2 fighters who know each others weakness and the best way to exploit that weakness fighting. They would be not only fighting a friend but seeling them out to every person who fought them after.
