A lightweight contest before former champion Sean Sherk (33-4-1 MMA, UFC) and Gleison Tibau (12-7 MMA, 5-4 7-4 UFC), who will make his 10th appearance in the octagon, is nearly set for UFC 103.

A source close to one of the fighters over the weekend told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) verbal agreements are in place and bout agreements are expected to be signed shortly.

UFC 103 takes place Sept. 19 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. Although not official, Rich Franklin is expected to headline the event.

Should be a easy win for Sherk if he goes back to his old wrestling G&P ways but if he stands he's in for a long night again!

That sounds like a pretty good matchup. The Muscle Shark will dominate the ground game for sure against Tibau. I wonder who Rich Franklin will fight though?

Go Tibau! Sherk has fell off the wagon and I don't know if he'll get back on in this fight. Tibau is not slouch on the ground and is just as big as Sherk. I see this being a stand up war witch Tibau will win.

Why would you lose faith in Sherk after a loss to Edgar?? Edgar is easily in the top 5 lightweights in the UFC. He has only one loss to Maynard and wins over top ufc lightweights.

This fight seems like a huge step backwards for Sherk....He has only losses too the top fighters in the division and now he is back to fighting Tibau, who realisticly is lucky to be in the top 15 of lightweights in the UFC. Should still bea decent fight, but position wise it seems off a little.

Fell off the wagon?! He lost to the best lightweight in the world and Frankie Edgar (who looked great that night stand-up wise). Edgar is the #1 contender in my book for a shot at the belt (well maybe Diego). He's had bad strategies coming in, but that's really his coaches fault for not slapping him in the face and telling him to take someone down.

And where is all this support for Tibau's stand up coming from? I agree I think Sherk is getting a little over confident in his stand up, but let's be honest Tibau's stand up isn't there either.
