you would be suprised its the reason why undersized guys can make a living in sports (basketball for example) there are guys who are 6'7" 6'8" undersized fowards/centers but because they have reaches of 7'0" or some even higher they can compete with guys who are that tall. I have a RL example of this, i have two good friends i play ball with/ that use to live with me, one is 5'3", but his reach is about 6'3" (btw he is a fighter 0-1 amateur record lost we showed up to watch the fights and they offered him one lol). Anyway this guys is a freakish athlete and his reach being so ridiculas he can play agianst bigger people (myself im 6'!") the freakin midget blocks me all the time, my other friend is 5'9" and has a reach of 6'5" he always gaurds the biggest guy even though im actally bigger than him because he can defend him better with the long arms....

Also shoulder to end of hand isnt the best reach measurement i really dont think there is a great reach measurement they all have their faults, but jabs are not the only punches thrown in fights there are punches that come accross the body and therefore the distance from chest matters it gives some people extra inches to reach the opponet and to gain velocity for the punch....just my 2Cents.
