Shaq has been training MMA for quite some time, actually. Upwards of 10 years if memory serves correctly. He's also ridiculously strong, almost as tall, vastly more athletic, and in incredible cardio shape. I'd probably seriously consider taking Shaq in this matchup to be 100% honest.

Remember that Shaq was one of the first true "super athletes" in the NBA. It's very common now to hear about 7' and 300 lb guys who can move, but in Shaq's rookie years there was no one in the league like him.

Very True.

Shaq would be ridiculous in an mma fight... with just a fundamental knowledge of the game his size and athleticism would be pretty hard for almost anyone except the upper echelon of hws.

I'd love to see Shaq try his hand in Japan after he calls it quits in the NBA. I am not saying the "weekend warrior" type of training that he (I am assuming) has been doing would get him ready for the real thing. But if he had a jab, a thai clinch, a sprawl and a triangle he could be pretty freaking devastating.

man am i glad other people realize the same potential of this match up that id o. the only thing that is worrying me though is Shaq's age. i would have loved to see him attempt this maybe 5 years ago, but nevertheless i would love to see it.

there is also a HUGE upside to this in terms of exposure for MMA.
