UFC The Ultimate Fights

This card brags 3 TUF winners and possibly 2 future winners, Here goes:

Prelims

To start the night we have a Slug Fest at SHW as Hong Man Choi promises to stand and Trade with Eric 'Butterbean' Esch.

Then at LW Englands NO 1 LW Terry Etim continues his attempted destruction on Canada's BJJ wizard Mark Bocek.

Next up is the stars of the TUF 9 LW roster Ross Pearson v Andre Winner, watch it here first.

Then the Kid who shocked the MMA world by beating The Kid takes on top WEC FW contender, Joe Warren v Cub Swanson

Future TUF 9 winner ( IMO ) Demarques Johnson takes on tough UFC veteran Phil Baroni in a fight that promises to take Johnson to the edge.

And then the Main event of the prelims as 2 top level wrestlers collide. The sensational Jon 'Bones' Jones takes on Matt 'the hammer' Hamill.

Main card

After the fans bombarded the UFC with emails this fight has been promoted from the top of the Prelims to the opening fight of the Main Card, the out spoken Dan Hardy takes on the tough vet Chris Lylte, this has stand up war written all over it.

Then in the first of 3 LW wars on the main card TUF 5 winner takes on TUF 8 winner, Nate Diaz v Efrain Escudero.

Looking to continue his rise through the ranks Clay Guida takes on the man who blew Aoki away, Hayoto 'Mach' Sakurai.

Then the third and best LW fight in a row, Tyson Griffin clashes with Roger Huerta, this has classic written all over it.

In the Co Main event 2 LHW's looking to recapture past glories and get back on track take out there frustrations on each other, Rashad Evans v Brandon Vera.

In the main event, Brock Lesnar defends his HW Title against a man who might be just as big as he is Shane Carwin.

This is sure to be a night to remember.

Duggy's:
Starting things on the prelim card Josh "the Fluke" Grispi will look to continue his impressive run through the featherweight division with his toughest test to date against Japanese Shooto star, Lion Takeshi.

Houston Alexander will look to change things up a bit as he steps up in weight to take on Paul Buentello in a match where the Headhunter has guaranteed that, "the only way someone hits the mat is if they're asleep."

In keeping with that form, Melvin Guillard will not be making his usual gas tank sapping cut and will throwdown at welterweight with British bomber Paul "Semtex" Daley... expect fireworks folks these two don't seem to be getting along at the press conference.

Cuban Olympic judoka and (future) Bellator Middleweight champ Hector "Shango" Lombard looks to continue his impressive win streak as he takes on American dynamo, Alan "the Talent" Belcher as they lock horns in what is probably two of the most athletically gifted athletes in the sport.

In what is sure to be an epic battle of two of the most promising young 135ers in the world Team Alpha Male stud Joseph Benavidez [#6 fightmatrix] looks to dethrone current number one contender Brian Bowles [#2 mmaweekly]. This is sure to be a true showcase of every aspect of MMA

now on to the rest of the action:

TUF 8 Lightheavy weight champ Ryan Bader looks to knock off another hot prospect in Blackhouse phenom Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante. Will Bader's wrestling be too much for Feijao? Will Feijao get tired walking to the cage like his last fight? only time will tell

Headlining the prelim portion of the card will be none other than pro wrestling import Bobby Lashley as he takes a big step up in competition to face Big Ben Rothwell. Will Rothwell's size and experience be too much for Lashley's impressive forearm to wrist ratio? only time will tell

At this point Mark Cuban makes an appearance wearing a 1996 fun run t-shirt and some mandals. He lets everyone know that the undercard will be on HDNet for their 48 subsribers, and that the Denver Nuggets are still thugs.

Starting things off on the main card we have two Brazilians throwing down in what looks to be an epic battle as Renato "Babalu" Sobral [#9 fightmatrix] takes on ChuteBoxe bred and ATT refined Thiago Silva [#15 fightmatrix]. These two have been wanting to throw down since middle school in Rio, it just never happened.

We now have two lightweight scraps as 4 top ten talents will be locking horns in 2 great fights:

(future) Bellator Lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez [#2 mmaweekly] takes on the surging American, Frankie "the Answer" Edgar [#7 fightmatrix]. Two fighters with endless gas tanks, great wrestling pedigree, and deadly hands (ask Sean Sherk or Kawajiri). These two will be looking to cash in on fight of the night.

Japanese star Shinya Aoki [#1 mmaweekly] looks to continue his impressive run through the lightweight ranks as he takes on impressive American and Strikeforce lightweight champ Josh "the Punk" Thomson [#8 mmaweekly]. Will Josh's range and wrestling be too much to get tangled in the knot that is aoki or will aoki pull another sakurai?

For the Co-main event we have a special treat as Rampage [#2 fightmatrix] looks to, "get paid" by stepping up and fighting at heavyweight and taking on the always dangerous Andrei "the Pitbull" Arlovski [#10 mmaweekly]. In a true match up of superstars this looks to be one put together for the fans.

Headlining the card is UFC phenom Cain Velasquez, as he looks to step into the big leagues taking on perrenial top 3 heavyweight Josh "the Baby Faced Assassain" Barnett [#2 mmaweekly]. This is a true test for the young AKA wrestler looking to make his mark and stake his claim competing with the true best in the world.

Sociopath's:

Some of my favorite fights throughout the cards, that in particular stood out to me because of the match-up of styles.

JZ v. Diego
Hansen v. Sherk
Machida v. Mir at 220
Rampage v. Arlovski at HW
Babalu v. Thiago Silva
Tyson Griffen v. Roger Huerta
Hardy v. Lytle
Sokoudjou v. Ishii
Gomi v. Cerrone
Forrest Griffin v. Gegard Mousasi
Dan Henderson v. Tito Ortiz
Almeida v. Filho
Rosholt v. Sakuraba()
Kitoaka v. Varner
Sosynski v. Jardine
Leites v. Palhares
Sylvia v. Dos Santos

In the end i went with Hendo 67 because the undercard was really strong, and all of the main card were matched up to be competitive interesting matches.

Barry v. Lebanner
Kang v. Leben
Almeida v. Filho
Bang Ludwig v. Franca
All could hold their own as Main card fights, and just seeing Sakuraba matched up against Rosholt really made it clear how strong this card was.

match ups I was most intrigued to see....

"Zenko" Yoshida vs. "Stun Gun" Kim
Rizzo vs Sidelnikov
Maia vs "Jacare"
Fisher vs Masvidal
Liddell vs Reljic
Hazelett vs Condit
Silva vs Belfort
Assuncao vs Sandro
Torres vs Yamamoto
Soszynski vs Jardine
Akiyama vs Bisping
Would've liked to seen a Arona vs Filho match up instead of what was made
Manhoef vs Le
Andy Silva vs Lil Nog at LHW not MW
Couture vs Aleks
Mousasi vs Forrest
Griffin vs Huerta
Lesnar vs Carwin
Houston vs Buentello
Guillard vs Daley*
Alvarez vs Edgar
Rampage vs Arlovski
Quarry vs Smith
Franklin vs Lawal
JZ/Sanchez
Lutter/Lister
Rogers/Yvel
Hioki/Fabiano

Good job to everybody. Lot of good cards, and it was tough to choose. I chose Pookie in the end. Pretty awesome card from top to bottom. Only bout I had no interest in was Stevenson vs Ishida.

*=my favorite fantasy match-up.

We are gathered here at the press conference of newly appointed CEO and Matchmaker of YAMMA, Kpro, as he has let us know he has blockbuster announcements and mind-blowing matches set for a New Years Eve show taking place live from the brand-new 1.5 billion dollar Cowboy Stadium. Other news that has already been announced is that the YAMMA cage is gone, and it’s now a flat surface for the fighters. Let’s get you straight to Kpro for this Titanic announcement.

Kpro: “Welcome, my friends in the media. I’ve gathered you all here today to announce the greatest Mixed Martial Arts card in world history. As has been announced over the last few days, we will be holding the event on New Years Eve at Cowboy Stadium. “

Media: “What made you choose Cowboy Stadium?”

Kpro: “Well, I’m glad you asked. We are expecting a sell out, and in a stadium with 20,000 square feet of video screens, I don’t imagine there could be a bad seat in the house!”

Kpro: “Ladies and gentleman, I hope you are all seated because I would like to announce the Main Event as Couture vs. Emeliananko”

*The media is in a frenzy*

Media: “Kpro! But,, Fedor is already scheduled for the UFC 116 Main Event against Allistair Overeem? How could you possibly make this happen?”

Kpro: “Let’s get on with the rest of the card announcements and then I will answer any questions you may have. Our co-main event will feature the former UFC LHW champion Forrest Griffin taking on top Pound for Pound fighter and DREAM MW champion, Gegard Mousasi. The fight will be fought at 205 as Mousasi is already up in weight for the Super Hulk Tourney he is currently participating in.

We will also have 3 other fights on the main card, as well as 7 under card fights to be streamed for FREE at yamma2legit.com.

The 3 other fights on the PPV Yamma 2 Legit: Couture vs. Emelianenko will be a long-awaited, highly anticipated, climactic fight between Frank Shamrock and Ken Shamrock. Most may say these men are past their primes, but I think when we lock them in the YAMMA, their primal instincts will make them elite fighting machines one last time.

Also on the main card, we will have the #2 MW in the world, and World Victory Road Middleweight Champion Jorge Santiago taking on DREAM’s #1 Middleweight contender in Jason “Mayhem” Miller. We have already made plans to escort Mayhem to the arena via limo as we’ve learned he is not allowed on any domestic US airplane flights at this time.

Rounding out the Main Card will be a fight that I personally put together as not only a Promoter but a Fan of this sport. We will have Nick Diaz getting his rematch against KJ Noons. It took extremely lengthy negotiations, and I had to fork out KJ Noons the same amount of money as Nick to get him to agree to this showdown at WW, but a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do to give the fans what they want!”

Our under card will be highlighted by 2 HW bouts; one between the now-defunct Elite XC’s only ever HW Champion Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva taking on top HW contender Fabricio “Vai Cavalo” Werdum. The other HW battle will be the winner of our poll on yamma.com as the fight fans wanted to see most as they ended up choosing newly announced TUF contender Kimbo Slice facing off in a rematch against James “The Colossus” Thompson. In a strange turn of events, the entire James Thompson War Wagon is allowed to follow him out the YAMMA ramp, as they are approximately the same size as Kimbo’s thousand man entourage.”

At LHW on the under card, we will feature the #1 most sought after debuting Mixed Martial Arts fighter in history in Satoshi Ishii. He was the 2008 Beijing Olympics Gold Medal Winner in Judo, and has been training at Xtreme Couture, Red Devil, and ATT. He will make his much anticipated debut against the 2001 US Open Judo Champion and current Xtreme Couture mixed-martial-artist, Sokoudjou. How will the elite Judo of Ishii translate with his new found striking game against a man with not quite the same Judo pedigree, but a multiple year head start in striking. Only time will tell.

At MW, we’ll have a contest between Murilo “Ninja” Rua and Frank “Twinkle Toes” Trigg. There has been a lot of bad blood lately as Trigg has been telling Ninja that he will bring a pacifier emblazoned with the Brazilian flag for when he “puts the Ninja to sleep”. Apparently Ninja has ramped up his training like never before and both men are prepared to leave it all in the ring.

We’ll also have a WW contest between Marcus “The Irish Hand Grenade” Davis and the last IFL WW Champion, Affliction’s Jay “The Thoroughbred” Hieron. This promises to be a fast-paced brawl with neither men afraid to keep it on the feet, or take it to the ground.

I've personally managed to ink the top 2 female fighters in the world as 17-0 Megumi Fujii will finally meet up in the biggest superfight in Female MMA history against 22-1 Yuka Tsujii. This has been anticipated for so many years that I'm amazed it is finally coming together! Josh Barnett was a great friend to have in helping get this fight inked.

Rounding out the card will be our lone 155 pound fight as Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone was set to take on Vitor “Shaolin” Ribeiro but due to Visa issues that would not allow him to travel into the US, he has been replaced on the card by Takanori “The Fireball Kid” Gomi, who have essentially swapped spots on loaded cards. Cerrone has been quoted as saying "we're fighting at Cowboy stadium, not Fireball stadium". Cerrone and Gomi expect to have an all-out brawl and no one can predict what will happen!

I can see by your jaws dropping that you are all very pleased with the card I have put together, now let me get to any questions you may have.”

Media: “Kpro, that is an amazing card. How did you put together such a spectacle on such short notice?”

Kpro: “Well, just like my wife has to do once a month; I pull strings my friends.”

Media: “To have an elite roster with Couture, Emelianenko, Forrest, Diaz, Kimbo, Mousasi, Shamrock vs. Shamrock, Mayhem, Gomi, and so many others is astounding. Do you feel getting rid of the previous version of the YAMMA ring helped in arranging these fights?”

Kpro: “Absolutely, 100%, without a doubt. We got rid of the previous verson of the YAMMA ring, but our flashy entrances are here to stay! I only have time for a few more questions as we’re still in the process of working out some final kinks.”

Media: “Why did you choose the name “2 Legit” for the second YAMMA card?”

Kpro: “I do believe we are 2 Legit To Quit… promoting MMA cards, and this blockbuster announcement has proven it. Final Question!”

Media: “How did you set up a fight between Randy Couture and Fedor when Fedor is scheduled to face Overeem at UFC 116. Isn’t his contract exclusive?”

Kpro: I’m not sure I can answer that question due to legal reasons but I can assure you that Couture vs. Emelianenko WILL happen on December 31st, 2009 at Cowboy Stadium in a YAMMA ring and I will be ringside to witness it all!

Won’t you join me?”

Emelianenko vs. Overeem is my personal dream matchup. I honestly think Alistair's the most dangerous sort of fighter out there for Fedor right now, since he's comfortable on his back and probably holds a striking advantage on the champ.

What sealed the vote for me was Garcia vs. Aldo though.
