Despite a loss to Josh Grispi in what might prove to be his final professional MMA fight, Jens Pulver earned an event-high disclosed salary of $31,253 at Sunday's "WEC 41: Brown vs. Faber II" event.

Pulver suffered a first-round submission loss to Grispi in the first Versus-televised bout at WEC 41, which took place at ARCO Arena in Sacramento, Calif.

I'd say that's because Manny's contract is newer than Urijah's and was originally with the UFC...not the WEC, where the contracts (and payouts) are expected to be smaller. Then again...I could be wrong.

I'm actually surprised Manny was on the undercard. He has to hold some sort of name recognition, right?

I thought the Banuelos vs Jorgensen fight should have been the FON.

Does the CSAC not round the salaries up to the nearest dollar? Funny that they mentioned a few fighters got cents too.

I think these totals must be after tax or something

how the f does faber make only 25!?!? he is the face of the wec. i don't care if he has an old contract. they need to re-work that contract. that is one of the most ridiculous things i have ever seen. he might be the most underpaid fighter in the ufc/wec. wow. by the way, if he didn't break his hand in the first round he would've won that fight.

I am sure he receives other compensation as well. At least I hope so.

And no, he still would have lost, I hope. Definitely deserves a trilogy after Aldo gets a shot.

I agree he should be paid a lot more than 25k. Didn't he go into the fight with a broken hand ?

No, it happened in the first round. And remember two things: Faber's not the champ anymore and the disclosed amounts NEVER include sponsor money and other bonuses that might be paid out backstage besides the bonuses of the night-which in his case was $10K for FOTN.

Chuck and Randy aren't champions anymore either.

I think Chuck and Randy are just a wee bit more popular than Urijah Faber.

99% of people have never even heard of the WEC and until it becomes as recognizable of a brand as the UFC, these paydays are going to remain the same.

My point was you don't need to be champion to be the highest paid.

Agreed.

However...each fighter signs his/her own contract, too.
