Following WEC 41, perhaps the promotion's most successful event ever, WEC GM Reed Harris unveiled the plans for the rest of the year and 2010. WEC will hold a total of 8 events this year, meaning 4 more events this year including August's WEC 42, and the plan is for 10 shows in 2010 but that also depends on TV partner Versus.

Why wouldn't Versus want to put on more shows? Thats the best thing going on that channel....what else do they have Bull riding and hockey...They should go ahead and due an Ultimate Fighter WEC style

And IndyCar racing, Tour De France, and whatever else. Not a whole lot though, so if the schedule permits I think it can be done, it's more about planning events for when the champs and top-tier talent are available to load up the events. They should be helped by pending implementation of the Flyweight division (should be later this year).

Yeah I can't wait for those guys...I hope they add a women's division or two as well...I think if they do that they can disband the lightweights and be completely seperate from the UFC...I think having the duplicate divisions loses the legitimacy of the whole organization...you have a lightweight champion who can't test his skills against the likes of BJ, Kenny, and the rest...plus I would love to see the Cowboy in the UFC.

But then you only have 3 weight classes (only 2 until Flyweights come on board), and while there's plenty of talent there it means you have to rely on your big guns (Torres, Brown, Faber) more often to draw ratings and crowds, and that wears them down quickly. Of course there's always the chance of a women's division but the prospects of that are a little dimmer now that Carano's SF deal is finally done.

well my whole idea of dropping the lw's is based on having the flyweights and adding some women weight classes...unless those things were to happen then I agree that it doesn't make sense to drop the division

if you drop weight classes above 145 you couldn't get Carano anyways.

I don't see a problem with keeping the LW division in place.

After all, there's plenty of little guys to go around.
