Who says Quinton Jackson is afraid of Lyoto Machida? If that’s what you’re thinking, Rampage says you’re probably 12 years old and you know nothing about the fight business. Sure, Jackson respects the title belt. But he’s also trying to make a living and a Machida fight is small potatoes compared to the gains from a successful season on "The Ultimate Fighter." And now that crossover star Kimbo Slice is part of the show, Jackson has dollar signs in his eyes.

"Those people don’t walk in my shoes," Jackson said in response to claims that he fears Machida. "They don’t put food on my table. They don’t set up college funds for my kids. I’m not afraid of nobody. If they use their common sense, they can see what my game plan is."

Now that makes much more sense than I want to fight Rashad more than I want my tittle. But I will say that having money as your main driving force isn't the best idea. All your truly great fighters do it because they love to fight and the competition, not because they love the money.

I think it makes perfect sense. He'll get his day with Machida eventually. I'd milk the cash cow a little, too, if I could.

M neither. He'd have gotten six figures for the fight and I believe he gets some PPV money too, but I might be wrong about that.

Id of done the same thing in Rampages situation. He can make his money then get his title shot. Its easy to sit back and say its b.s or he shouldnt be fighting just for the money, but what if he took the fight with Machida and got k.od early, then fought Shogun and got destroyed again. The big money fights will sharpish dry up.

Fighting isnt about money. Machida would fight for a title, even if he was offered a large amount of money. Machida is all about proving he's the best. Not how much his wage or paycheck is...

His whole career, he's been saying it's about the chedda...do you think he perpetuated that lie just in case one day he was asked to fight Machida?

If Rampage is hurting for money it's his own fault. He's been getting paid well for the better part of a decade.

Wow.. I cannot believe people are hating on Rampage for this.

It makes perfect sense, and it goes along with what I've been saying. The shot at the title will be there. In this sport, your day in the sun only lasts so long. TUF=More exposure, and while it may not be more money in the short run, in the long run it definitely is. There were a bunch of contributing factors as to why Rampage didn't want to take the fight- short notice, time away from family in England, nagging injuries, etc. Then, he gets offered TUF which gives him exposure (=dollars) and doesn't interfere too much with his career and he takes it. Makes perfect sense. Very logical business decision.
