Satoshi Ishii, a Japanese gold medalist at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games' Judo competition, has signed with the Japanese-based World Victory Road to compete in its Sengoku event series, the organization today announced.
Ishii, 22, is one of MMA's most promising heavyweight prospects.
In fact, Ishii had been in talks with the UFC but ultimately decided to sign with an organization closer to home.

At this point in his career this was probably the smartest move. Sadly, though, if he gets heavily involved in the circuit over there it's doubtful he'll ever fight in the UFC

Sengoku is the best place for him.

I'm just glad he's finally signed somewhere. From some of the sparring sessions I've seen, he looks like he's going to make the transition to MMA pretty easilly. Probably be matched up with Yoshida early on.

Would've loved to see him work his way through the TUF house but it seems like a great addition to Sengoku.
