While it might have been a tough call to make, referee Yves Lavigne says he stands by his decision to stop the Kyle Bradley-Phillipe Nover fight at UFC 98 when he did. Lavigne said Nover's body language when he went to stop the fight said Nover was "out" even though Nover quickly recovered. Lavigne says he'll adjust accordingly for his next assignment after reviewing the fight, and NSAC head Keith Kizer supports Lavigne's decision on the stoppage.

Nover was rocked, but i think he could have continued......He might have still gotten finished, but give the guy a chance to recover....

I find it weird, that yves stands by his call.
But I saw on this site, people posting that yves went up to nover and said "Im sorry, I shouldnt have stopped the fight"

The fight shouldnt have been stopped IMO. The fans really took too yves, booing him everytime he was the ref for another match.

honestly the more i watch it the more i think it was an ok stoppage because nover goes limp for a second, and as soon as he does yves jumps in. now almost changing his mind was a little ridiculous but i thought the stoppage was just.

if you watch when novar was getting up before the punch that "knocked him out" he had his left hand off the mat and his right foot was up near his stomach in front of his left knee, not a solid base at all, so when he took that punch it knocked him over. i dont think he was out at all. if you have the video take another look at phillipes possition.
from lavignes angle it would have looked like nover was out before that punch. i just think he was in the wrong position to see what was happening. after he realized nover wasnt out i think he did the right thing and stuck to his call however.
cant take chances on another brown / sell situation.
hopefully they will schedule a rematch but sucks that nover gets a suspension for nothing.

So it should have been stopped there and then. Except it wasn't. That's what most people have a problem with i think, the fact it was allowed to continue after Lavigne had cuddled Bradley for a bit.
