UFC Lightweight Clay Guida is very confident that he's going to be the UFC Lightweight Champion one day. He knows he's ready for a title shot and will try to deny Diego Sanchez a promised title shot if Sanchez beats Guida at the TUF 9 Finale, and possibly earn a shot himself if he wins.

It's so easy to like and root for Clay.

I hope he's right, but unfortunately, I just don't see it happening...

You need more than just conditioning and a good attitude to get a belt in the lightweight division...

Skills in anything other than wrestling is a start... He'd do so much better if he stopped training with his horrible brother...

wonder what his gameplan is. only way i see him winning i by holding on to him for 3 rounds. his stand up is worse and if he tries to do anything but hold him on the ground he will get subbed. Not to mention Diego is a more physically stronger lightweight than most so i dont think he'll be able to do that either. Clay Guida is all tools no weapons

Not a big fan of clay after the diaz fight.

Dont see him beating Diego, but if he does and BJ is champ, BJ will pick him apart with that jab that clay cant see coming with all that hair.

Im pulling for that Florian vs Sanchez 2 for the title.

agree, if he does he deserves the title shot but he is facing a guy that is just better in every aspect of the game.

I definitely don't see him getting past Sanchez. IMO, the Nate Diaz fight was just an opportunity for him to take the easy road by making the fight a wrestling match and winning that way...Boo for him and best of luck for Sanchez.

There are a lot of guys at LW I think are all around better than him. I don't see him ever being champ and getting a tittle shot I see being slim at best. He is a good fighter just not a top 10 LW in my book. I think Florian, Maynard, Sanchez, Edgar, Sherk, Penn, Griffin, and Stevenson could all beat him. Dont get me wrong I think he is good but very one dimensional and there are lot of guys at LW better at the one dimension not to include most of them are better at everything else as well.

You know- I just thought about this. Even if Guida wanted to change camps, where would he go? Xtreme Couture? It's full of UFC LW's that Guida would probably like to fight some day. ATT? Same deal. Jackson's? Same. Delagrotte's? I think Delagrotte's camp would be the best possible move for Clay, since IMO Delagrotte is the best standup coach in MMA, BUT- Florian, another top UFC LW is there. It's kind of a shitty situation if you think about it, and you have to give Clay credit for doing as well as he has being from a relatively unknown camp.

Totally agree...the argument could be he's young and could get the belt basically by being around long enough to wait out the current top talent but when you look at the guys like Frankie Edgar, Gray Maynard, Jim Miller...I can't see Clay getting past any of those three alone

I'm not sure he'd ever want to change camps; I mean come on. Having Jason Guida in your camp trumps any other camp.
