In a fight that will be announced soon, Dana White has confirmed that, as expected, Quinton Jackson will be the first challenger to new UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Ryoto (Lyoto) Machida. Rampage actually was to have gotten the fight last night but injuries after UFC 96 forced him to sit it out.

But this will also mean the title will get tied up because it's probably likely their gonna be the coaches on TUF.

can't wait. will be interesting to see, if someone is gonna be able to find a way to beat machida. i prediced nobody will for the next two years. kind of the same like it is with anderson silva at middleweight.

but please give it a break with TUF. it's getting more and more annoying anyway. to stall complete divisions for that stupid show is even more. the next tuf season should be with recently retired fighters as coaches. that would make sense at least...

Yeah I gotta go with Machida.
Though I do believe a mentaly focused Rampage has the potential to be his hardest opponent yet.

Machida will probably pepper his legs, but 5x's worse than Forrest did.
I say Rampage's best shot is to get in that one good combination as Machida is coming in,but with Lyoto that's easier said than done.

I think the exact wording leads me to believe they will not be TUF coaches, as they say "in a bout to be scheduled soon"...perhaps it's just some adlib, but sounds like that's the impression Dana gave. Good news then, because noone wants the LHW title held up again.

i hope they don't hold the title up but I heard an interview with Rampage on the Sirius Fight Club last week and said while nothing is official he has been approached about the coaching spot and has gone so far as to ask some guys to be prepared if it happens to asst. coach...it seems to be the most likely setup for the next season...who else would be a good coaching team...maybe Shogun vs someone top level to make a number one contender

in the beginning, machida was way underrated. Now, i believe machida is overrated. I'm thinking rampage slams him down and GnPs him out.

Haha, how is he overrated? He's 15-0, hasn't lost a round, beat former champions...

Hardly Overrated in my mind.

If by overrated you mean that more people are jumping on his bandwagon, then yes.

Ever since Machida beat Heath, i've said that given a shot Lyoto would become LHW champion. Since then, i've always beleived that the only LHW with any chance of taking the belt from Machida is 'Rampage. Now i'm not so sure anymore....

I still think 'Rampage' can beat Machida, i just don't think he will at the first time of asking.

Im interested in seeing the odds when this fight come out, as Rampage is probably going to have some killer odds.

Rampages best weapon is his ability to burst into his striking range with accurate power-punches that are laced with black magic and dynamite.

TO be able to beat machida your going to have to be able to strike from a longe range, with either kicks(like shogun) or lunging punches.

Rampages boxing defense is the best in the division hands down, and definitely has the tools to stand and bang with machida.

Machida has more tools to strike with, the speed and the footwork.

Rashad had little chance against machida stylistically and most people saw that before last night.
Dont let the evans fight lull you into a false sense of security against Rampage. He is without a shadow of a doubt, the better fighter in every area in comparison to rashad. Jackson has the right type of tools to attack machida successfully, and more tools defensively than rashad had to deal with the diversity and range of Machida's strikes.

If rampage is any better than +200 then jump on those odds.

Machida has a handful of tools and natural attributes that can enable him to beat a fighter like rampage too, so dont get me wrong.

But to anyone who says rampage is tailor made for Machida to beat i disagree, Rashad was tailor made for Machida to beat.
