According to a Russian MMA news site, the long-rumored matchup of WAMMA Heavyweight Champion Fedor Emelianenko vs. Josh Barnett for the title may finally happen (again) in August. A loose translation suggests it will be at the 3rd M-1 Global/Affliction event planned for early August.

M-1 Global says it's close to done. As in maybe 7-10 days.

California seems to be Affliction's homebase, and it really seems to be between there & Japan with regards to making the fight happen. It probably would do better in Japan because Barnett is still very over there (and still does some pro wrestling there once in a while).

I've been saying for a long time that I think that Barnett is one of few that can actually take Fedor to a decision. I still believe this, though I think that Fedor will end up winning it.

I've been saying for a long time that Barnett is the one who can beat Fedor. Hopefully we get to see whether or not I'm right. (I hope I'm wrong)
