Pat Smith is a fun guy to watch, but this is about the worst possible matchup you could make for him.Monson by another easy 1st round sub.

Monson has it figured out-instead of fighting once every 6 months for the UFC at $15K a fight,he can fight every few weeks at $2-$5K a fight. He makes more money that way and gets to keep more active.

I just noticed something about Monson while looking at his record.

Since 2000,he has only lost to UFC champions, the only exception being Pedro Rizzo, who was the #1 contender for the UFC HW title 3 times.Monson has lost to the following UFC champions-Chuck Liddell,Ricco Rodriguez,Forrest Griffin,Tim Sylvia, and Josh Barnett. Those are the only people he's lost to since 2000.Not too bad,and he avenged his loss to Ricco recently.

Is this the Pat smith from the old days? I think I remeber something about him getting busted for statutory rape or child molesting, does anyone else remeber that or am I confusing him with someone else?

He's the one who fought on UFC 1 & 2. Lost to Ken Shamrock at 1, at 2 he won 3 fights before losing to Royce Gracie. He got active again in '06, and has gone 8-2 since. And yes, he fought for Yamma.

I remember seeing him in that Chuck Norris fight league debacle, as well. Pat is getting pretty old.

Wow. Nice fight. I still can't believe Smith has come back, in the fashion he did it at his age.

Obviously Monson wins this, but I find it funny, considering Monson's views, that he's fighting on a card entitled "Patriot Act."

Smith was a very tough dude back in his day, but Monson has this.
