During the UFC 97 post-event confusion there was a lot of apologizing going on, specifically from Dana White to everyone and Anderson Silva to Dana White. But it turns out that Silva wasn’t as apologetic as his manager Ed Soares translated him to be. Here’s what Anderson apparently said in Portuguese:

Contrary to his manager Ed Soares’ translation after the fight, Silva did not apologize for his performance.

“I did well in the fight,” said Silva in Portuguese. “I can’t always make you happy.”

Silva continued his condemnation of Montreal’s vocal MMA fans.

“Not everyone understands what they are watching,” Silva said. “But hey, you guys can boo if you want. You are paying my salary.”

And here is how Ed Soares relayed that sentiment:

“It’s unfortunate that things sometimes turn out that way, but when you’re not in here, it’s hard to tell what going on sometimes,” said Silva. “Sorry.”

Take it for what it's worth. I'm sure this happens more frequently than we realize.

it just sounds to me that Silva is becoming more and more rebeliouss in order to find a way to get released from his contract so he can pursue the Roy Joens Jr fight. So be it, let him go out there and get KTFO by Jones, i put money on it!

I agree that AS is trying to get out of his contract but I don't think RJ would KO him.

And a third party says Silva was not apologizing. This translation according to Ariel Sherner of The Fight Network:

"I did well in the fight. I can't always make you happy. Not everyone understands what they are watching. But hey, you guys can boo if you want. You are paying my salary."

Thats where fight linker got their quote so it is still just one interpretation.

I find it hard to believe that AS, with his limited English, couldn't tell when his comments are translated wrong. Sorry but I am not ready to jump on the, "{let's all slander Silva's reputation", bandwagon.

I think he did say those things, I think he took the last two rounds and said the hell with it you want to boo me I'll stand in here and play with this guy. After the fight you could almost tell in his celebration he was like screw you as he pranced over to the cage and set up on it. I can't blame him your going to boo him and chant GSP. All of Canada better hope GSP don't win his next fight if he dose he just might get retired by Anderson.

The spider is not the one who sounds like an A hole, all the canadian fans booing were the ones who sounded like A holes, and i know its not just them people would have booed no matter where the fight was but the canadian obsession with GSP made it worse. If I were Anderson I would be pissed of too, he fought for 25 minutes and literally didnt take a punch, he dominated the fight retained his belt and everyone is giving him grief its ridiculous if you ask me.

Not Anderson.............its the corwd in Canada that sounded like A%%HOLES. Chanting a guys name thats not even on the card???? WTF I hope he said the part about them paying his salary.....because he's right. And can be cocky................he is THE GREATEST CHAMPION the UFC HAS EVER!!!!!!!! EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! seen. And will continue to dominate oponents as he did Leites. He had Thales so scared all he could do was fall backward hoping the boos would woo Anderson in to his guard.
