Frank Shamrock’s pride took a hit at Strikeforce “Shamrock vs. Diaz” on Saturday at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif., but his bank account emerged in far better shape.

The 36-year-old icon banked an event-high $369,790 after his one-sided second-round stoppage defeat to Nick Diaz, according to figures released on Tuesday by the California State Athletic Commission. Shamrock earned almost 10 times as much as his adversary, who pocketed $39,950, including a $10,000 win bonus.

This is appauling. You got guys earning under one thousand dollars and franks pocketing over 350k? Which is about 10x the amount the guy who absolutly beat him down earned?

Looks like Tito might beable to find a new home after all with those kinda pay outs.

i think pay is outrageous also.. i thought coming into it, win or loss, i thought diaz should be top earner... after win bonus and all he finished 4th. are you serious, over rated and over hyped frank got 10x his pay. absolute outrage.

frank shamrock isn't just a fighter, but hes also a promoter, has rights to the san jose pavillion, and is the most recognizable name to bring in new fans to strikeforce. he deserves everything that he gets. if tim sylvia got 800k for 33 seconds, why shouldn't frank make half that?

Franky should have only gotten like 100k and spread out that other 269k.

Well hopefully Frank wont have many more fights and SF wont have to blow their load on old franky.

Local fighters in MN get paid more than 1k. And that isn't even telvised. This isn't incentive to be a fighter. It is truley a passion for the sport at this stage. Too bad more sports should actually be like this IMO

a lot of the numbers were just shy of 1000 amounts which is weird.. maybe they were paying them an even 000 amount and docked fees or something haha. The pay scale is horrendous though. Two things which I would be interested to know are the details of shamrock's contract (fight by fight? win bonus? did the disclosed amount include anything else?) and if all these fighters from eliteXC are still being paid what they were making before... isn't that kinda what happened with the pride contracts which were bought out?

As for the pay scale... horrendous. We criticize the ufc for their payouts, and I do believe that you can still barely argue the ufc is paying their fighters appropriately (if they dont jack it up by the end of 2009 or disclose where the money is being allocated I'm gonna go on a rant), but these fighters making under 1000 is absolutely ridiculous. Seriously...

Shamrock is making 369,790 while the combined salaries of ALL the other fighters comes to 263665... every fighter that night put together made less than 3 quarts of what shamrock made. You should not have such an unbelievably top heavy pay out when your entry level fighters aren't making enough to cover flight and accommodations.

And i'm not saying that sylvia deserved 800k for his stint in affliction, but it was ok with affliction was paying everyone absurd amounts and fedor likely made more than everyone. Diaz was just as valuable as shamrock was in hyping that fight.. no way in hell shamrock should be making more than 10 times his pay let alone significantly more than everyone else on the card put together

If he can get them to shell out 300000 plus than good for Frank but I really expected Nick and Frank to be paid almost the same amount. I would love to see what Tito is asking for once he finds out Frank made that much.

But keep in mind that the negotiations to save the fight likely resulted in her getting an additional win bonus even if she lost, so the actual figure is probably much higher than the one they reported. Keep in mind these figures don't include sponsor money, additional bonuses, backstage payouts, etc.
As for the guys only getting 1K, remember these guys don't have as much experience and some of these guys were making their SF debuts among other things. So they can't command 5 or 6 digits.

What annoys me most is, surely Frank as the promoter could slashed a little from his cheque and spread it around a little. Even if he still kept 300k and just made sure the lesser paid fighters actually got enough money to eat for a month or two. I guess it just annoys me seeing the promoter paying himself so much more than anybody fighting for him.
