Where does this fight put Nick Diaz and in what division will e be competing in?
How many more wins does he need to put him in the top ten of a division?

I"m guessing he heads to welterweight...(is there a strikeforce welterweight champ?) Maybe fights Jake Shields for the title?

Shields is fighting Lawler next. Not sure what weight that is* but the winner would make a nice opponent for Diaz. I think Diaz looked good at 180 and maybe good enough to make the biggest fight available for Strikeforce IMO--Diaz vs. Le.

*Side note--Shields just weighed in at 183 for Bully Beatdown a half hour ago.

He won't be fighting Jake Shields. They train together and have done so for a while. It wouldn't suprise me to see them make a rematch with Lawler.

Is Nick really big enough to fight at middleweight consistently? Shouldn't he just bite the bullet and fight at welterweight? Arent gilbert and Josh thompson friends yet they fight?

I think they are gonna give the winner of Lawler/Sheilds the next shot at Cung Le. They should bring in KJ Noons and let Diaz get his revenge for the Vacant 170 title. or redo the grudge fight from UFC and let his fight Riggs again. After one of those fights, put him in with the winner of Cung Le-Lawler/Sheilds.

Diaz and Sheilds actually came up in the same gym doing jits together under Cesar Gracie. Thomson and Melendez came up in separate gyms. they trained together at AKA to get ready for fights because of the quality of sparring partners. but that is thomsons home gym.

I think Diaz should stick to (and dominate) the WW division. I am hoping that the UFC are taking notice and get Nick Diaz back on the payroll!

A rematch with Lawler would be great, both guys have come along considerably since their first encounter. Robbie's a less emotional fighter who has better technical boxing than he originally did, so it would definitely be a fun fight.

Nick was fighting at 160 for EliteXC and I know he's cutting a freakish amount already to make that but if it's not to much could you guys imagine him at 155!

Top 5 LW IMO very easy to see him taking the belt in any organization including the UFC.

i'm pretty sure that EliteXC created that weight division specifically because nick couldn't make the cut to 155...He should probably due the WW thing

i wanna see a rematch with Lawler or a fight with Scott Smith.

if he goes back to WW Paul Daley would be a decent fight.

I'd like to see him take on the winner of the Dream WW Grand Prix, which will most likely be Hayato Sakurai. There aren't a lot of other options at WW, as the UFC has pretty much locked down that division, but Jay Hieron is another option.

If Strikeforce can talk another MW into a catchweight of 180, that opens up a lot more options for guys like Frank Trigg, Kazuo Misaki, Joey Villasenor etc.

WOW, Misaki v Diaz would be probably the most awkwardly fast paced fight i can imagine.

I'd love to see him take on Le because besides a chosen few, their isn't much out there at 170 besides whats in the UFC. I'd love to see him take on Paul Daley too, that'd be a sick fight because if it hit the ground Diaz owns him but how would he get it their? Great slugfest or a rematch wit Noons if he mans up.

Hopefully Daley or Le, both exciting ass fights!!!

He should fight the loser of Shields/Lawler and then a title shot against Cung Le should he win.
