according to sherdog (so read with caution) she made it down, but her opponent doesnt want to take the fight. She already fights at a lower class, and thinks the size weight, will be too much of an advantage.....who knows
sucks if it doesnt happen, and i dont ususlly like the chick fights

Did she even try? That's just horrible. Same goes with Gina, she always misses weight (but I don't think she has done it by this much).
The fight is on, the promoter cut a deal with Hitomi.

They gave her almost too long. First they said she had until 8 PM ET (2 hours) then it was 11 PM ET (3 more hours) and she came up 1/2 pound short. CSAC said yes, Akano said no. 6 hours of negotations later and it's on. We should get an explanation tonight during the broadcast.

Geesh.
Makes me wonder... does anyone know if there has been any research comparing weight cutting in females and males? I know women have a higher % of body fat.

It may also be due to a bunch of other stuff we shouldn't go in-depth about here.
Anyway, I don't know if this is true but supposedly the deal to get Akano to take the fight includes a "very substantial win bonus", which she gets even if she loses, and 2 guaranteed future fights in SF plus a likely on-air explanation tonight of just what happened.
