In a stalemate on the ground being on top in guard or not is considered control, every fighter knows this. If you are getting held down for one or twenty rounds you are being controlled if everything else is even the other fighter deserves the win.

Its the same concept as holding the center of the ring, if two fighters land equally whoever controlled the ring gets the round.

Ok so thats where we saw the fight differently then. I saw one guy on top getting the decision while he was fending off submissions and up kicks. You saw one guy on top in a stalemate.

I didn't even think there was a question that Benavidez won, and I had picked Curran. It's really hard to make a legitimate argument that Jeff won that fight.
