While most feel he's undeserving of his title shot against Anderson Silva at UFC 97, Thales Leites is confident he can somehow do the near-impossible and beat Silva. In fact, he says "he will get out of the cage with that belt, no matter what happens".

Hahaha, I was going to suggest that maybe Anderson forgot it in the washroom. Or what he meant to say was "I can get that belt FOR Silva at 97", bring it to the cage and make sure it's nicely polished. I know Dana likes to put the belts on guys after but maybe he's making an exception for Thales.

Andre Pederneiras is going to sneak over to the belt, grab it, and hand it off to Jose Aldo... who will use his lightning speed to sprint into the audience and get lost in the crowd.

Leites is a very skilled grappler. For that reason, theres definitely a chance of him beating silva. Just like cote had a "puncher's chance" against him, leites has that same chance. If the fight goes to the ground, lets say silva drops him and moves in for the finish, but doesn't get it right away, leites could pull a sub.
I wouldn't give him any better chances than cote had tho. Both guys, in my opinion, were not ready for a shot or an opponent of silva's calibur.
And before anyone says leites is crazy, he kinda has to feel confident going into this. Any unconfidence or hesitation on his part will lead to a quick loss.

Still sticking with silva, 2nd round TKO/KO

I think Thales COULD beat Silva but it doesnt sound like Leites is going to beat Silva with the gameplan that he has.

Thales-Im going to stand up and fight. Not the best gameplan.

I mean get the fight to the ground, dont try and stand with him.

Leites is on borrowed time right now. He wont make it past the 2 minute mark if he tries to stnd with Silva. And Anderson is no stranger to BJJ. He does train with the Nogeria brothers.

Yeah in no way does Leites deserve this shot IMO.

Silva is going to dismantle him IMO 1st rd KO.

I might pick Thales since everyone is writing him off. Proved to be a kiss of death in the past lol.
