I'm taking Carwin in this fight. Look at who Gonzaga has fought, the only top-level striker he has fought is Cro-Cop, and many will say he's going past his prime. Couture isn't really a top level striker, but more of a workhorse who played a smart game. Other than that, Gonzaga has only faced submission artists who aren't nearly up to his level.

Carwin has a solid wrestling background, which, in addition to his size, will prevent the takedown and keep the fight standing.

Carwin via 1st (T)KO.

Well it was a good but quick fight. Fight played out pretty much as I anticipated. Gonzaga was controlling the fight. He was displaying that he was both the better striker and the better grappler. He rocked Carwin early and even managed to get a takedown on someone who should have been the superior wrestler. However Carwin managed to get back to his feet and then Gonzaga got a bit overeager and let his concentration slip for a second. That was all it took. I won't say lucky or fluke because I hate it when people use those terms. However I will say that I would still pick Gonzaga in a rematch. Hats off to Carwin though. A win over Gonzaga is a good win.

dannyfrank is right
0 acceleration = constant velocity
0 acceleration = 0 force

the faster your hand is accelerating the more force you exert

Same here. Carwin wasnt all that impressive either, which is going to make him a hard pick in the future...Id hate to pick between him and Cain Valesquez.

Anyway Gonzaga shouldnt have clinched when he had Carwin hurt, he may have had better luck if he kept pouring it on with strikes or maybe a big kick after he was stunned.

Let's not unload off the Gonzaga bandwagon just yet guys. Granted it was only a couple minutes, but up until the KO, GG was winning that fight. Stand by him and you won't be dissapointed.

I still think Gonzaga is the better fighter. He just let his concentration slip for a second and went down.

I think he's a one hit wonder. I've never thought him to be top notch and I still don't. He's big, strong and he's got a ton going for him, he's just missing the intangibles that make talented fighters great fighters.

he has two gaping holes in his game that for some reason he hasn't improved, those being his sloppy standup and gas tank. He has all the tools to be a champion and he hasn't put them all together yet. I'm hoping it's just taking him a little while to develop but he reminds me a lot of joe stevenson, very good fighter but he is what he is, hasn't evolved or improved his game over the years, if we see the improvement he could be back in the title picture, if not he is just a gate keeper.

The only fight he's ever had that made me go, hey this guy is good was the Cro Cop fight, other then that i've never thought "hey this guy could be a champ".

I thought he looked really good early in the Werdum fight when he was unleashing those vicous leg kicks. I think theres always one or two points in his fights where he looks awesome, then the rest of the time he looks like he doesnt really know what hes doing in the cage. I guess only time will tell as to whether hes ever going to be a force in the division.
