Hoost in the inaugural UFC tournament? I wonder if Royce Gracie would have escaped alive.
At UFC 36, Matt Hughes fought Shooto’s former MW (167 lb) Champ, Sakurai, because the current Champ had trouble getting a visa. The Champ was Anderson Silva.

Brian Stann was also in the military.
Add Chris Leben to that list...he was in the military for a little bit prior to going AWOL and being discharged.
