After a disappointing split decision loss to Thiago Tavares at UFC 94, “The Ultimate Fighter” 5 runner-up Manny Gamburyan confirmed his drop to the featherweight division from his previous home at lightweight.

“I don’t know if the cut is going to be hard or easy – I haven’t made 145 in almost 10 years – but I’m going to do it in a good way,” he told MMAWeekly.com on Wednesday. “I’m going to put together a beautiful training (camp).”

He's just too short at 155, I kind of wish we could have seen the Diaz rematch before this happened. Either way it was the right move he's still going to be one of the shorter guys at featherweight but nor overwhelmingly smaller in the strike game especially

Although I still hope for the Diaz rematch at some point as well, it's better than him being cut, which is what I was thinking could happen. He might still have trouble just because WEC's FW division is just incredibly stacked.

Me too. He looked great in TUF but in retrospect he was a guy with decent takedowns who could maintain top control and avoid subs....basically a talented "judo guy". That's all he really showed during his wins.

His weakness is obviously striking and without enough size he's not going to be able to force every fight to the ground to compensate for this. TBH, I'm not sure moving to a division where the best fighters are guys like Brown, Faber and Yamamoto is going to give him that ability but at least he has a better chance.

Goes from stacked UFC 155 to stacked WEC 145. But he should have better success at 145, atleast on paper it seems that way.

Manny could be a force at 145. He will definatly be ripped. I've never seen him against a guy who is his size. Hell even Tavares was bigger than him. i hope this move is good for Manny. He is a true warrior, and classy guy as well.

This is a good move for Manvel. He should be able to out-muscle the majority of the guys in the WEC's Featherweight Division. He will be a top contender who is a threat to beat anyone.

I think they may have told him drop or your cut

I have been wanting to see this happen since the end of TUF 5. I never believed he would get anyhere in the UFC because of his height. Manny is good, but not good enough to make up that kind of disadvantage against legit UFC fighters.

I am excited to see what Manny can do at FW.
